Classic 350 Bobber - What Is It?
RE is developing multiple new bikes on its existing 350cc & 650cc platforms. The 350cc J-platform currently beholds one of the best sellers for RE i.e. the Classic 350. However, the decent sales figures of rivals like Jawa Perak & Bobber 42 have induced interest in RE for a Bobber bike. The best development possible for it is around the Classic 350 itself. Hence, the Bobber is being developed. Although it is going to be more or less the same as the Classic it'll get cosmetic changes to it.
As seen in the spy pics, the bobber gets a completely retro outlook. It is fitted with a long tubular handlebar, new mirrors, a single seat, & blacked-out engine components. Also, the handlebar and the mirrors have been blacked out. Additionally, the interesting bit is the use of black spoked rims with teal-paint sidewalls. It is something that hints at old-school retro bikes. As it is going to be more of an eye candy; RE is surely going to design it for Bobber lovers. Hence, we also expect retro colour options on it once it goes on sale later this year.
RE's J-platform has proved successful and the Bobber will use it unchanged. The 349cc, single-cylinder, air-cooled engine will be used without any changes. However, the exhaust looks like it has been changed for a more bassy experience. The end can is also of a different shape and so is the aperture of the inlet pipe. RE has painted the exhaust in a matte-black shade; similar to the rest of the engine. One can also notice the new LED taillight and indicators like the Super Meteor 650. We also expect that its headlight will also be a LED unit.
Verdict
The Classic 350 Bobber will be the first bike in this segment by RE. The attempt surely looks promising but we can't comment more because it is still in the development stage. However, if all goes as planned, RE plans to launch it by the end of 2023 in India. We expect that it will be priced at around Rs 2.25 lakh.
