If you own a Royal Enfield Interceptor 650 or the Continental GT 650; here is good news. One of the most awaited updates for the 650 twins has landed. RE has officially debuted new models with 18-inch alloy wheels. Additionally, both models get LED headlights, USB charging, etc. Read more details about the new updated models below.
Royal Enfield Interceptor & Continental GT Update Details
Since the 650 twins are launched, owners have been craving alloy wheels. In fact, RE also promised a long time back that it will launch dedicated alloy wheels. However, the latest update has now eliminated the absence of the most important feature. Debuted in Europe, the 2023 650 twins get new 18-inch alloy wheels. These machined alloy wheels will make life easier for current and upcoming owners. Things like fixing a puncture, changing tyres, etc., shall become much easier from now on. The new update has also brought other cosmetic changes.
The other updates include the upgraded headlight unit. While the old models came with halogen headlights, the new models get LED headlights. This headlight seems to have been carried forward from the Super Meteor 650. Not just this but even the switchgear is also similar to the flagship 650. Additionally, both models now get a USB phone charging socket. With that said, RE has also changed the looks of both models. This is done via a black matte finish of components. Design elements like the engine casing, exhaust pipes, etc., are now matte black finish. It is something similar seen on the 120th-anniversary edition of the RE 650 twins.
Meanwhile, RE has also introduced new paint options on both of the models. Interceptor now gets two new paint options - Barcelona Blue & Black Ray. However, the Continental GT now gets Slipstream Blue & Apex Grey paint options. Apart from this, both of the models remain unchanged. The 648cc parallel-twin engine and other features like a slipper-assist clutch are not fiddled with.
Verdict
The new updated models have brought a flair of relief among the current 650 owners. However, the updated models are only available in Europe for now. But, India is the biggest market for RE; the launch of updated models is imminent. We expect that in the coming days, the updated bikes will make their way to India as well. But, the new features will definitely cost more than the current models. Expect a hike in prices by up to a few thousand. Also, the alloy wheels & LED headlights can be sourced as accessory parts by the current owners; once launched.
