When we were at the Auto Expo 2023, we delivered you all the updates. And if you followed the Expo, you definitely remember that Tata Altroz was showcased in its CNG avatar. This sparked a new wave of eagerness among the buyers looking out for a CNG-powered vehicle. Although premium hatchbacks like the Maruti Baleno and the Toyota Glanza were already in the space, a section of people wanted more options to choose from.
But. there is something really ingeniously groundbreaking development with this one, which gives it the biggest boot space with CNG. Let's see what that is.
1. Biggest Boot Space In CNG Hatchback- Ingenious Twin Cylinder
What has been the biggest pain point of CNG vehicles since their inception? The negligible boot space. Chunky cylinders resting in the boot space left the vehicles with very less to no boot space. Basically, made the vehicle for just people and not serious luggage.
This is where Tata came up with an ingenious solution, which is simple, but deserves all the praise. In place of a 60-liter CNG cylinder, there are now 2 small cylinders of 30 liters each side by side. They are placed below a flat flooring which results in practically big boot space.
2. Sunroof Makes Its Way To The Tata Altroz- Finally
Something that was in demand with the Tata Altroz was a sunroof. The Hyundai i20 has one, and Tata was paying attention. The Altroz CNG has begun incorporating this nifty feature into this premium hatchback. It is soon expected to be available in normal petrol variants too.

3. Fully Digital Driver's Display
The digital driver display is the same that we have seen in the Tata Tiago. This is another feature addition to make it a little more enticing for the tech-savvy population. i20 already offers a completely digital driver's display, while the Baleno And Glanza still use analog speedometers.
The display now shows separate bars for the CNG level and also the mode of fuel ( petrol or CNG) currently in operation.
4. Direct Ignition In CNG Mode
What's another quirky development is what Tata calls the iCNG technology. This makes the Altroz capable to start directly in the CNG mode. This will remove the hassle of manually switching the fuel modes and will be a really handy and practical feature for the buyers.
5. Added CNG Specific Safety Features On The Tata Altroz CNG
There are some safety features that are crafted keeping in mind the nature of CNG. To name a few, it gets thermal incident protection, a gas leak detection feature, and a micro switch to ensure the car is switched off at the time of refueling. Also, it gets a fire extinguisher below the driver's seat, which is a regulatory requirement for all CNG-powered vehicles. 6-airbags and other standard safety features are the same as with the other variants. Plus, a 5-star safety rating will further provide a sense of safety.
VERDICT- The Tata Altroz CNG brings with it a lot of new additions. The sunroof, digital driver's display, and the revolutionary- Practical Boot space in a CNG car. This concept is sure to be adopted by other manufacturers, but the innovation will have the name Tata engraved on it. The CNG variant could demand a premium of up to Rs. 1 lakh over the normal variants.
