In our recent mileage test on the highway, we picked up the safest car present in the premium hatchback segment, yes, the Tata Altroz diesel. Like our earlier tests, we drove it for 200+ kilometres but this time on Taj Expressway and it delivered us 27.41 kmpl.

We started our trip by filling up fuel from a petrol station located in Noida and then moved our way through Taj Expressway. The well laid out highway is one of the best because of less traffic and also with a good speed limit of 100 kmph.

We put the car in cruise mode at 90 kmph with AC running at 24-degree Celcius and after 20 km, the Altroz diesel gave us a mileage of 29.4 kmpl. This mileage at the start of the trip was extremely good and we knew that it will deliver us more as we crunch more kilometres on the odometer.
As we reached the 50 km mark, we played with the cruise speed and set at 92 kmph with AC running at 24 degrees and it showed us 30 kmpl on the display. Even with the absence of 6th gear, the economy was great. This explains how this 1.5-litre detuned unit from Nexon is not only frugal but also fuel-efficient.
This figure was going smooth until our first toll came. At the Jewar toll, there was some traffic which dropped down our fuel economy by 1 kmpl. Nonetheless, it clearly gives you guys a glimpse of the real-world fuel economy at highway situations.

Another thing which we did today to follow the strict highway regime was that we took a break at 100 km mark to enjoy our snacks. Well, we got it packed and ate it in our Altroz. Also, we switched to Eco mode after completing the 100 km mark to give you an idea if the economy gets higher or not. Do remember that the last economy was 29 kmpl.
At 200 km mark, the average fuel economy showed in the MID was 28.8 kmpl which is great according to a car of this size. We complete the rest 32 km with the same set speed of 90 kmph but this time at our last leg 5 km we entered the city because we wanted to fill in via the same fuel pump.
Like before, we went for the auto cut method only, and this time the total fuel-filled was 8.46 litres, and the total distance covered by us was 231.9 km. So the average fuel economy came out to be 27.411 kmpl while the tripmeter showed us 28.9 kmpl. Well, this is less than 5% error so that happens.
