Tata Altroz Facelift: Changes?
Going by the latest spy images, the test mule is fully draped in camouflage and it's very hard to hunt out the changes. However, having a keen look at the vehicle suggests that the overall silhouette will remain the same as the current model. The premium hatchback will retain the brand's 'Impact 2.0' design direction, although we can expect some alterations to some of its prominent design elements. Some of the significant changes to the four-wheeler's exterior will include tweaked headlamps with an altogether new lighting setup, redesigned front grille and minor alterations to the bumper.
Towards the sides, the test mule seems to be sporting an almost similar design for alloy wheels, however, we expect Tata Motors to give an altogether new treatment to the wheels. The rear profile could likely get a new set of LED tail lamps accompanied by subtle changes to the boot and rear bumper.
Tata Altroz Facelift: Interiors Updates, More Features?
Inside the cabin, there can be some visual changes to the package, while the dashboard layout will remain the same. The premium hatch could probably do away with redesigned AC vents, an upgraded centre console and new upholstery for seats.
To bring the Altroz in line with the current market standards, the Indian carmaker will add an array of features to the premium hatchback. A larger infotainment system with a new interface, 360-degree parking camera, ventilated seats and all-digital instrument cluster among others are some of the major feature incorporations we expect from the company.
Tata Altroz Facelift: Powertrain, Launch Timeline and Expected Price
The updated Altroz will continue to utilize the same set of powertrain combinations underneath. It includes a 1.2-litre naturally aspirated petrol, 1.2-litre turbo petrol and a 1.5-litre diesel unit. There are chances that the latter could be discontinued as a result of BS6 phase 2 emission norms.
The details about the launch timeline are still under wraps but we are assured that Tata Motors will introduce the Altroz Facelift in the year 2023. In terms of pricing, it will likely command a premium of around Rs. 20,000-Rs.30,000, over the current model, depending upon the variant.
Verdict: Tata Altroz has been a good performer in the Indian market. Its 5-star GNCAP safety rating is one of the many reasons that it is appreciated by customers. The hatch majorly rivals the likes of the Hyundai i20 and the best-selling Maruti Suzuki Baleno in its segment. Updating the current model with some new features and design changes will possibly help to overcome its shortcomings, thereby maintaining its steady pace in the market with some possibility of growth.
