Tata Curvv Vs Citroen Basalt: Tata Motors has finally revealed the prod-spec model of its highly anticipated coupe SUV, Tata Curvv in India. The prod-spec model comes with some minor tweaks when compared to the concept model, revealed back in 2022. However, the Curvv is not going to be a single player in the segment for a long time. Citroen India is all set to launch the Basalt which also sits in the same segment as Tata Curvv. Both these coupe SUVs will compete with each other in a relatively new segment in India.
Whereas the trust factor works for Tata Motors in India, the game seems quite difficult for Citroen. For now, let's keep all other factors aside and do an in-depth how these cars stack against each other in terms of design. Tata Curvv Vs Citroen Basalt: Front Fascia
The Tata Curvv gets some trendy design elements including a connected DRL strip, welcome and goodbye animations and sequential turn indicators. These design elements work for Tata Curvv and make it look more contemporary.
On the other hand, when we see the Citroen Basalt, it lacks any new design element on the front and looks exactly similar to the C3 Aircross and C3. The Basalt features V-shaped LED DRLs, halogen headlights and fog lamps while the Curvv gets all LED lighting units. All in all, we can say that Tata Curvv has a better front design than its upcoming rival.
Side Profile Comparison
When it comes to the side profile, the Tata Curvv again looks modern with its differentiating design elements. The Curvv gets flush door handles and a gloss black cladding on the wheel arches.
Whereas the gloss black cladding is a common design element, Basalt comes with the traditional flap-style door handles. Another major difference is alloy wheels which are different on both SUVs. Specifically, the Tata Curvv gets petal-shaped diamond-cut alloy wheels and Citroen on the other hand features all-black alloys. Personally, I liked the one on Citroen Basalt.
Rear Profile
At the rear, the Tat Curvv features a sleek connected LED tail light unit with a sequential turn indicator and welcome and goodbye animation functionality.
Again, Citroen has provided the traditional wraparound LED tail light which is also not connected. The things that remain the same on both coupe SUVs are the blacked-out rear bumper and a silver skid plate.
Tata Curvv Vs Citroen Basalt: Power
There are no official details available regarding the powertrain options for both SUVs. But we are expecting the Tata Curvv to carry a 1.2-litre T-GDi turbo petrol engine which produces 125 PS of power and 225 Nm of torque. The powerhouse on the Curvv is expected to get multiple transmission options including a 6-speed MT and 7-speed DCT. On the other hand, the Citroen Basalt will be powered by a 1.2-litre turbo petrol engine which churns out 110 PS of power and 205 Nm of torque. This Basalt's engine will get 6-speed Manual and 6-speed automatic gearbox options.
Price Range
However, none of these brands has shared any details regarding the price of the upcoming coupe SUVs, we are expecting both these SUVs to come with a starting price tag of Rs. 10 lakh (ex-showroom), going up to Rs. 17 lakh (ex-showroom).

Verdict
In terms of design, Tata Curvv emerges as the winner with its modern aesthetics, LED lighting innovations, and sleek profile. Citroen Basalt, while competent, lacks distinctive new elements and settles with traditional features seen in its existing models. This gives Tata Motors an edge in visual appeal and contemporary styling.
