The launch of the Tata Punch is finally around the corner. It's expected that the new model, which is underpinned by the carmaker's ALFA-ARC platform, will go on sale this festive season.
Based on the HBX, the Punch looks quite bold and definitely feels more rugged than a conventional hatchback. With its latest small car, Tata Motors has decided to target the small car buyers who aspire to own an SUV but don't want to spend extra to pick up the Nexon or any of its rivals. The upcoming model is expected to be launched at an aggressive price range to compete against the likes of Mahindra KUV 100, Renault Kwid and Maruti Ignis.

The upcoming car might have a lot in common with Altroz and Tiago inside the cabin. Outside, Tata will offer multiple dual-tone colour schemes and as seen in various images, it will get C Pillars integrated door handles and squared-off wheel arches.
Tata Punch is expected to be launched with the same petrol engine that powers the Altroz, Tiago and Tigor. Hence, you will find a 1.2-litre, naturally aspirated three-cylinder petrol engine that will deliver 86 hp of maximum power and 115 Nm of peak torque. The motor will come mated to a 5-speed manual transmission as standard and will even offer an optional AMT. Tata might launch a turbo variant of the same engine along with a CNG option in future.
