Punch Off-Road Rendering
Titled as 'Off-Road Edition', the rendered images have showcased how the modifications can be done to complete the Punch as a complete SUV. At the very first glance, a huge large skid plate is featured at the front bumper.
Accompanying this large skid plate are the side skid plates, wider MT (Mud-Terrain) tyres with off-road rims, new body paint to comply with the off-road theme and graphics as well. The rendered images also feature a top-rack with a fixed LED auxiliary light bar to tackle the night off-road penetration. The spare tyre has also been fixed over the top rack carrier in case of emergency tyre changes, making it easy to reach and change the flat out tyre.
At the rear end, off-road edition of Punch features a raised stance like proper SUVs along a large bash plate to protect the car from off-road injuries.
Rendered images have also showcased the potential of a new blue-silver dual-tone paint scheme that will look very distinct from the current production version of the Punch micro-SUV.
Punch Engine & Specifications
As this is just an imagination by an artist, these images indicate no such edition from Tata Motors. While the imagination leaves us wanting for more, the current Tata Punch mechanically uses a 1.2 lt, 3-cylinder naturally aspirated petrol engine which produces a peak power of 86 PS and 113 Nm of peak torque.
This power is mated down via a 5-speed manual gearbox and also on offer is a 5-speed AMT automatic transmission which embeds a TractionPro mode as well.
While the current car is equipped with the above said engine and gearbox options, there are rumors over internet that Tata Motors shall soon be introducing new engine options in Punch. These might include the turbo-petrol from Altroz iTurbo which is a 1.2-Lt, 3-cylinder, turbocharged engine producing 108 Bhp of peak power and 140 Nm of peak toqrue.
The rumors also suggest that Tata might introduce the 1.5-Lt diesel engine option which is already used on the Altroz hatchback. A bi-fuel CNG Tata Punch is also in the works and might appear on roads sooner or later.
Punch Price & Rivals
Tata Motors have priced the micro-SUV Punch from 9 5.65 Lakh - 9 9.29 Lakh (ex-showroom). The aggressive pricing has helped Tata Motors to lead on the rival products such as the Renault Kiger & Nissan Magnite in terms of sales.
