Tata Punch Turbo Petrol - What To Expect?
Hyundai Exter is soon going to launch in the micro-SUV segment that is established by Punch itself. Hence, to maintain its sales and dominance in the segment, Punch is being tested with a new engine. The current Punch offers a decent mix of petrol engine performance. However, the feedback from a lot of users suggests that more power should be given to Punch. Therefore, Tata seems to be developing a new engine. The spied test mule could very possibly be using a 1.2-lt, three-cylinder unit. This powertrain shall make 110 bhp of power & 140 Nm of peak torque.
As seen in the spy shots, the test mule is using bigger wheels. In fact, the ground clearance of the test car is higher visually if compared to the current model. Meanwhile, the overall design and shape of it'll remain nearly identical to the current model. However, Tata might redesign the bumpers and give them a fresh appeal of the design. Tata has also been testing the upcoming Nexon facelift that shall bear a Curvv-inspired design. Hence, we can expect similar inserts on the upcoming Punch model.
Verdict
Tata Punch is one of the best-selling models for the company. It's 5-star rated safe cabin has helped it gain popularity in the market. However, the Exter is expected to bring a new flair and new features to this segment. Therefore, to remain competitive the new Punch facelift shall launch by the end of 2023 in India. We expect that the turbo version will become the top-spec and hence it'll be priced upwards of Rs 10 lakh.
