Tata has launched the most affordable electric car in the Indian market in the form of the Tiago EV. Priced from as low as Rs 8.49 lakh and going all the way till Rs 11.79 lakh, ex-showroom, Delhi, the Tiago EV is here to target the mass segment buyers who only thought of owning an EV. Now, with aggressive pricing, people can actually buy one.
The talking point is the pricing, of course, and the two battery packs available with this electric hatchback as well. Tata offers a smaller, 19.2 kWh battery pack and a bigger, 24 kWh battery pack. We share with you which of these will be a better choice for you!
The smaller, 19.2 kWh battery pack pumps out 60 bhp of power with a peak torque of 110 Nm. It gets a driving range of 250 km according to MIDC but expect a real-world driving range from anywhere between 150 to 180 km. Performance-wise, it can do 0 to 60 kmph sprint in just 6.2 seconds.

This battery pack gets a 3.3kW wall box charger and it charges the battery from 10 to 100% in just 5.1 hours. If charging from a regular 15A plug point, the battery gets juiced up in 6.9 hours.
Sharing the specs of the bigger battery pack, which is the 24kWh one, it generates a peak power and torque of 74 bhp and 114 Nm, respectively. Performance-wise, it achieved 0 to 60 kmph speeds in just 5.7 seconds and delivers an excellent 315 km driving range according to MIDC.
Both the battery packs are offered with two drive modes - Sports and City. They also come with smart regenerative braking from Level O to Level 3. Level 3 is the highest. This one gets a 7.2kW AC fast charger and the battery can be juiced from 10% to 100% in just 3.6 hours. If this same charger is used for the 19kWh smaller battery pack then that gets charged in just 2.6 hours.
Both the battery packs support DC fast charging. Both batteries can be charged from 10% to 80% in just 57 minutes. It is the 24 kWh battery pack that seems a wise choice as it offers a better driving range and more power. However, that comes at a price.
Here's the variant-wise pricing of the Tata Tiago EV
As can be seen, the 19.2kWh battery pack only gets a 3.3kW AC charger while the bigger and better, 24kWh one gets that along with the 7.2kW AC charger. The top-spec XZ+ and XZ+ Tech LUX get the bigger AC charger as standard while for others, customers might have to pay a certain amount.
