Hiked up fuel prices, increasing traffic and increasing air pollution is one of the major challenges but the automotive industry is playing smart and has started adapting electric mobility and CNG vehicles for a clean and green environment. Tata Motors recently confirmed the launch of its upcoming CNG cars in India and has commenced the booking of its upcoming Tigor CNG and Tiago CNG at Rs 5000.
Both the cars are planned to be launched in the upcoming days. Tata with this is also planning to manufacture Nexon, Altroz and Punch as well in CNG versions. By the end of 2022, the company is also in talks of introducing more electric vehicles to enhance its range. The upcoming Tiago and Tigor will be launched with a company-fitted CNG kit.
Both the cars are currently available with a 1.2-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine that are capable of producing 85bhp of maximum power and 113 Nm of peak torque. The power and torque figures are expected to differ a bit in the CNG versions.
The existing cars are available with manual and AMT transmissions however the CNG ones will only be mated to manual transmission only. The CNG one is expected to produce 70-75bhp of maximum power and 100 Nm of peak torque.
These models will look exactly the same as the existing ones. A CNG badging will be there on the rear profile to differentiate it from the normal one. It is expected that the cars will be around Rs 50,000 more expensive than the current ones.

The Indian automotive industry currently has a limited range of cars available in CNG versions. That said, Maruti Suzuki and Hyundai Motors were the only manufacturers to produce more such versions but now Tata will also compete. CNG kits can be easily fitted aftermarket in any and every car but it is not that successful.
The ones mentioned above are available with company fitted kits and these ones are a hit. Tata Motors has been recently ranked as the second-largest manufacturer in the industry. With the introduction of upcoming Tiago and Tigor CNG, the company will again notice an increase in sales.
