The year 2023 witnessed an array of exciting SUV launches, including the debut of models such as the Honda Elevate and the facelifted versions of the Tata Nexon and Harrier. As we approach 2024, the anticipation continues to build with the upcoming release of several new SUVs from renowned brands like Mahindra, Tata, Maruti, and Hyundai. Here's a preview of the top 10 SUVs list expected to hit the market next year. 1. Renault Duster

The Renault Duster made its debut in India in 2012, playing a pivotal role in establishing the compact SUV segment before its discontinuation in 2022. Recently, the global iteration of the new-generation SUV was revealed under Renault's budget-oriented brand, Dacia Duster. While specifications for the India-spec Renault Duster are yet to be officially confirmed, the model is poised for a comeback with anticipated updates and enhancements.

2. Kia Sonet Facelift

The subcompact SUV has undergone exterior enhancements, accompanied by the addition of new features, including level 1 advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS). While the engine options remain unchanged, Kia has reintroduced the diesel manual combination with this updated Sonet. Reservations for the Sonet facelift are currently open for a token amount of Rs 25,000. Deliveries for the eagerly awaited model are slated to commence from January 2024.

3. Hyundai Creta Facelift

The upcoming facelift for the Hyundai Creta promises an enhanced design and added features while maintaining continuity with the engine options shared by the Kia Seltos facelift. These include a 1.5-litre petrol engine (115 PS/144 Nm), a 1.5-litre diesel (116 PS/250 Nm), and the segment's most powerful 1.5-litre turbo-petrol engine (160 PS/253 Nm). The launch is scheduled for January 16.

4. Mahindra Thar 5 Door

The Thar 5-door is all set to make an early debut in 2024. While the test mule of the same has been spotted on quite a few occasions, the exterior remains almost identical to the 3 door variant. The extended version of the Thar off-roader is set to incorporate a fixed metal roof, sunroof, increased cabin comforts, and LED lighting elements. It is anticipated to share the same engine options as the current Thar, featuring a 2-litre turbo-petrol engine and a 2.2-litre diesel engine, both available with manual and automatic transmission options, with enhanced performance capabilities.

5. Tata Curvv

Tata's foray into the compact SUV segment will be led by the Tata Curvv and its electric counterpart, the Tata Curvv EV. The electric variant, anticipated to debut first, is projected to provide a range of up to 500 km, with detailed specifications for its battery and electric motor still awaiting disclosure. Following the electric version, the Tata Curvv will enter the market, powered by the new 1.2-litre T-GDi (turbo) petrol engine generating 125 PS and 225 Nm of torque. Both models are expected to boast modern features and comforts.

6. Mahindra XUV300 Facelift


The Mahindra XUV300 is preparing for its initial significant update since its market debut in 2019. Test mules of the Mahindra XUV300 facelift have been spotted over the past few months, and the launch is anticipated in 2024. The forthcoming XUV300 facelift will feature a revamped cabin with more premium features, a new fascia incorporating fresh LED DRLs and headlights, updated alloy wheels, and an interconnected LED tail lamp. It is expected that the 2024 XUV300 will maintain the same engine options as its current counterpart, including a 1.2-litre MPFi, a 1.2-litre T-GDi, and a 1.5-litre diesel engine.

7. Tata Punch EV

The upcoming Tata Punch EV is set to join the automaker's electric vehicle lineup, positioning itself between the Tiago EV and Nexon EV. Spotted multiple times as a test mule, the Punch EV is anticipated to feature slight EV-specific design modifications akin to other Tata EVs. It will be available in Standard and Long Range variants, boasting a claimed range of up to 500 km.

8. Tata Harrier EV

Expected to debut in 2024, the all-electric Tata Harrier is poised to join the electric vehicle segment. Initially unveiled as a concept at the 2023 Auto Expo in New Delhi, the Harrier EV is anticipated to feature elements of the updated Tata Harrier's design language along with specific design elements tailored for the electric variant. The Harrier EV will be available in multiple powertrain options, offering a substantial driving range exceeding 500 km. This adds another EV in Tata's portfolio

9. Mahindra XUV.e8


In 2024, Mahindra is set to launch the XUV.e8, an all-new electric vehicle (EV) model. Serving as the electric counterpart to the Mahindra XUV700, the XUV.e8 will be built on the innovative INGLO platform. Its design will bear a resemblance to the internal combustion engine (ICE) version with distinct EV-specific modifications and a modernized interior. The platform can accommodate batteries of 60 kWh and 80 kWh capacities, with the larger option boasting a WLTP-certified range of up to 450 km. Furthermore, the XUV.e8 will support DC fast charging of up to 175 kW.

10. Maruti eVX

In 2024, Maruti is gearing up to unveil its inaugural all-electric vehicle, the eVX. Initially revealed as a concept at the 2023 Auto Expo in India, the Maruti eVX has since been showcased in a version closer to production at the Japan Mobility Show 2023. Maruti has officially stated that the eVX will feature a 60 kWh battery pack, provide a dual-motor all-wheel-drive (AWD) option, and deliver an impressive range of up to 550 km. The electric SUV is currently undergoing testing in India in preparation for its upcoming launch.
