The 2020 Mahindra Thar is already popular in the Indian market because of the high waiting period. For the top-spec LX variant, the period goes as high as 6 months also. However, the Indian carmaker has started the deliveries and just recently they did over 500 deliveries on the weekend. Now, the buyers who have got the new 2020 Mahindra Thar to share their experience and others have already gone ahead to test the off-roading capabilities of the SUV. Below is a video of how the 2020 Mahindra Thar performs in the snow.
Before we go any further and bring you all the details of 2020 Mahindra Thar performance on Snow, make sure you are a member of our exclusive 91Wheels Telegram group where we share about the latest information of the Indian Automotive Industry.

As you move further into the video then you might notice that the new Thar was stuck into the snow while the older-gen swiftly glid over them. But that's not the issue. As they say, it's not about the ride, it's about the rider. Similarly, when we further got to know as to why the Thar failed to conquer the snow then it turns out the rider was not known to driving to these extreme conditions.
Another reason was that the car was in 4H mode. Well, that is not a problem because the 4H mode is also highly effective in the 2020 Mahindra Thar. We at 91Wheels have experienced the same. However, at this point, the driver should have shifted to 4L which would have given extra torque at lower speeds like this. Also, the throttle response and steering management is top priority in situations like these.
The 2020 Mahindra Thar is available with both petrol and diesel engine. The former comes with a 2.0-litre mStallion engine which makes 150 PS of power with a peak torque of 320 Nm while the turbocharged diesel makes 130 PS of power with 300 Nm of peak torque. Both the engines get a 6-speed manual gearbox as standard and an optional 6-speed auto for the higher variants.
The prices of new Thar starts from Rs 9.80 lakh for the base model and the top model costs as much as Rs 13.75 lakh, ex-showroom, Delhi. At this time, the Thar is the most affordable 4x4 SUV in the Indian market providing both features and off-roading capability.
