Electric vehicles are getting rapidly popular in the Indian market and to improve the sales, the government too is taking several initiatives to bring down the cost. Still, when compared with the conventional fuel, EVs are a hassle especially in India due to lack of charging stations. However, this does not put some carmakers from introducing the base variant of their EVs and today we have with us a video of the base variant of the Tata Nexon EV. Yes, the most affordable electric SUV, Tata Nexon EV is also available in the base version to enhance more sales. What features it gets? Let's find out.
In this video you see below, the XM variant of Nexon EV which looks similar to that offered in both petrol and diesel engine. Styling-wise, it differentiates itself from and carries blue shade on the window line, wheel caps and on the upper part of the front bumper.

You can also see that unlike the higher variant, XZ+ and XZ+ LUX which is offered with alloy wheels, this comes in steel wheels. Also, the door handles and ORVMs are covered in black highlighting it is the base variant. Another noticeable change is the exclusion of shark fin antenna which we see in the higher variants. Overall, the EV badging is clearly visible on some parts of the electric SUV.
Feature-wise the XM differentiates itself from the XZ+ and XZ+ Lux but all these variants get same battery output. A 30.2 kWh battery pack which generates as much as 129 PS with 245 Nm of peak torque. Yes, the power is more than petrol and diesel but the torque is lesser than diesel. Tata Nexon diesel makes 260 Nm of peak torque while the petrol version makes 172 Nm of peak torque.

0-100 km/h of Nexon EV is achieved in 9.99 seconds and is IP67 protected. It offered a claimed driving range of 312 kilometres and offered two modes - Driving and Sports. The battery can be charged from 0-100% in just 60 minutes via fast charger while using a normal 15A plug it is charged from 10% to 90% in just 8 hours.
Feature-wise, the XM variant gets features like automatic climate control, smart key with push-button start, connect next infotainment system by Harman, steering mounted controls, projector headlights with LED DRLs, LED taillights, roof rails and among others.
As far as the prices go, Tata Nexon starts from Rs 13.99 lakh and its top-spec variant fetches till Rs 15.99 lakh. All prices belong to ex-showroom, Delhi. Tata Nexon is the most affordable electric SUV which competes with the likes of Hyundai Kona and MG ZS EV.
