To make things more interesting, it will now receive powered tailgate with kick sensor. This feature is old but is quite handy when you have your hands full of shopping bags or luggage and you just cannot take the keys out from your pocket. So a wave under the rear bumper and voila, the boot will be opened.
Visually, the Fortuner now gets more drama than before. With this facelift, it now gets aggressive front and rear bumper design, a restyle grille and notice the chrome details around the fog light housing. You get black ORVMs, TRD sticker at the side profile and a new dual-tone alloy wheel design which aesthetically improved the Fortuner's image.
Mechanically, things will remain unchanged for the Fortuner. It will continue to get a 2.7L petrol and 2.8L turbocharged diesel unit. The latter is popular in demand and brings up more sales than petrol. The oil burner produces 174 bhp with 420 Nm of peak torque. The engine gets mated to a 6-speed manual as standard and an optional 6-speed AT gearbox.
