The Toyota Hilux is one of the best selling pickup trucks globally and the brand is said to be considering launching the Hilux in the Indian market next year. While many of the online reports suggest that the vehicle will be launched in the country in early 2022, there is no official confirmation yet. The Hilux is underpinned by the same platform that underpins the Fortuner and the Innova and will also offer a similar features list. Having said this, here are all the details that you should know about this upcoming Toyota pickup truck in India and the Toyota Hilux India launch date. As mentioned above, the Hilux is based on the same IMV-2 platform that underpins the Innova Crysta and the Fortuner. Having said this, the Hilux is longer than both its siblings and measures 5.4m in length while the wheelbase too is larger than 3m. Speaking of the design, the Hilux is said to have a different and distinct design that will be largely dominated by a large hexagonal front grille, swept-back headlamps with LED DRLs and flared wheel arches. In addition to this, the Hilux also gets body claddings and side steps to boast a rugged look while the rear is a little subtle with simple LED taillights. Apart from this, the Hilux will boast large alloy wheels, projector headlamps, chrome door handles, etc.

Inside, the Hilux is expected to share many of the parts and components with the Innova and Fortuner to help the brand cut down on additional expenses. For starters, the car is expected to feature a similar dashboard layout and similar seats. In addition to this, this pickup truck will also feature a large 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system with features like Apple Carplay and Android Auto. Moreover, the car will boast features like auto climate control, push-button start, auto-dimming IRVM, ambient lighting, etc. Needless to say, the build quality too is expected to be commendable and one of the best in the segment. On the safety front, the Hilux is expected to offer a number of airbags, ABS, EBD, traction control, vehicle stability control, hill start assist, speed warnings, seat belt reminders, and many other features. It is worth noting that the Thai-spec Hilux scored a five-star safety crash test rating in the ASEAN NCAP crash tests.
Just like the Innova and the two-wheel-drive base variants of the Fortuner, the Hilux too is expected to be powered by the 2.4-L diesel engine that churns out 150 hp of peak power output. The higher, four-wheel-drive variants of the Hilux may feature a 2.8-L diesel engine that churns out 204 hp. While we still have no official details, the Hilux is expected to be offered with both manual as well as automatic gearboxes. The Toyota Hilux price is expected to start from INR 25 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi) for the base, two-wheel-drive variant. Once launched, the Hilux will take on the rivals like the Isuzu Hi-Lander and the V-Cross.
