A few weeks back, Toyota Kirloskar Motor halted the bookings of their popular MPV, Innova Crysta. However, they stopped the bookings for the widely popular diesel engine only. The petrol bookings were still underway. Now, as per reports on the internet, the bookings for the oil burner will commence soon.

The Japanese carmaker halted the bookings of Innova Crysta diesel to cater to the huge demands. Now, the MPV will soon be returning in 2023, however, this time it will be the top-spec ZX variant only that will be available with a diesel engine.
In addition to this, even the allocation for dealers will be fewer than before. What's interesting is that there are people who are looking for diesel-powered Innova's and the second-hand market prices of Crysta's will definitely shoot up now.

The diesel Crysta is powered by a 2.4-litre, four-cylinder turbocharged unit that belts out 148 bhp of power with a peak torque of 343 Nm for the manual and 360 Nm for the AT. It gets mated to a five-speed manual transmission as standard and a six-speed torque converter automatic as an option.
Verdict
Toyota is all set to launch a new vehicle, Innova Hycross by November 21. It will be available in two engine options only - petrol and petrol hybrid. The Innova Crysta will be sold alongside the new Hycross, however, the diesel model will be limited to the top-spec variant only. We also believe that the price of diesel Innova Crysta will soon rise.
