One of the most popular MPVs, the Innova is now scheduled for an EV update. What all are the changes you should expect?
Toyota has unveiled the upcoming Innova EV at the ongoing Indonesian International Auto Show. The concept EV model did showcase a near-production state, and the overall styling does not stray away from the badges original design. However, Toyota is yet to officially launch the new electric MPV, and the official details are yet to be confirmed. Spyshots of the Innova Crysta MPV have also been spotted recently, revealing some of the details of the underdevelopment MPV. Check that story here.
Coming back to the Toyota Innova EV, the concept model gets the same bodyshell as the standard Innova. There are few aesthetic differences in the front fascia and on the sides, that help it distinguish itself from its petrol counterpart.

As has become a unique design with most electric vehicles, the Innova EV also gets a complete shut-off front-grille design. The LED headlights on both ends are the same as their petrol counterpart. There is a tiny slit at the bottom, that acts as an air damper, in the front bumper, which again houses the vertically-slat LED fog lamps at both ends.
Unlike the front, the rear of the Innova EV gives away its EV pedigree with transparent rear LED tail lights, co-joined by a dark chrome-ish line that also houses the Toyota badge. In addition, the Innova EV further gets a new alloy wheel design.

The cabin of the Toyota Innova EV is also a familiar space. The same dashboard design with its faux-wooden insert design, and the same three-spoke steering wheel mounted are instant reminders of the original petrol model. The semi-digital instrument panel will be updated, with a large MID that shows information about range etc. The infotainment screen might remain the same 7-inch unit, instead of the updated 9-inch unit. It will also display the battery level, speed, and other range-related information.
The exact spec details of its battery and electric motor are not available as of yet. As mentioned before, Toyota is yet to officially launch the Innova MPV. If launched in India, expect the Innova EV to have an ex-showroom price between Rs. 30.00- Rs. 35.00 lakhs.
