After a slow business in the covid times, all the auto manufacturers are gearing up with a number of new launches in 2022. Here is the list of upcoming cars in India in 2022 that you should wait for. Update (5 January 2023): Most of these models have been launched in the Indian market. Mahindra's new-gen Scorpio is called Scorpio N now. Additionally, the e XUV300 has been badged XUV400. Meanwhile, Tata Tiago iCNG and the new Alto 800 have also been launched. The Maruti Baleno hatchback was also revised with a new design as well as a new transmission option. 2022 mahindra scorpio front three quarters

Mahindra Scorpio

The next-gen Scorpio has been spied testing on multiple occasions and we are expecting the brand to launch the SUV by mid-2022. The new Scorpio gets an all-new platform and an updated design that will be much superior to the present iteration of the car. The Scorpio is expected to share its engine options with the Mahindra Thar and will boast a feature-rich and practical cabin. It will be available in both 6 and 7-seat configurations and will offer features such as a large infotainment system, sunroof, LED headlamps, powered seats etc. The Scorpio is expected to be priced from INR 12-14 lakh (ex-showroom).

Maruti Alto 800

The Alto 800 will be a next-generation model and is expected to be based on the heartect platform and will boast the same 1.0-L K10C motor that powers the Celerio. The Alto 800 will be the most affordable car in Marutis lineup and will be launched somewhere in mid-2022. The Alto 800 is expected to be priced somewhere around INR 3.5 lakh (ex-showroom).

Tata Tiago CNG

The Tiago CNG was spied testing recently, thus hinting at a launch somewhere in 2022. The Tiago CNG will be powered by the same 1.2L petrol engine that powers the standard Tiago. It will however be interesting to see how Tata tweaks the power and torque output of this model. The Tiago CNG can be a great choice for people who have a higher running and are looking for cheap running costs. The Tata Tiago CNG price may start from INR 5.5-6 lakh (ex-showroom).

Citroen C3

Citroen recently made its debut in the Indian market with a promise of delivering cars with best in class comfort and so far has stood on it. The Citroen C3 will be an all-new product for India and will feature a compact footprint and a well-built cabin. The C3 will rival the likes of Nissan Magnite and Renault Kiger and is expected to be priced from INR 5.50 lakh (ex-showroom).

Tata Punch review front three quarters blue

Tata Punch EV

The Punch is the first micro-SUV in the brands lineup and boasts commendable capabilities, built quality and a comfortable cabin. The brand is expected to launch the electric version of this micro-SUV soon in the Indian market. The electric Punch may offer an affordable price tag and will boast a reliable and capable electric powertrain.

Toyota Hilux

The much-awaited Toyota Hilux will be launching in India soon in the first half of 2022 and will take on the rivals like the ISUZU V-Cross. The Hilux boasts commendable reliability and capability figures. It will feature a spacious cabin with features like a touchscreen infotainment system, ambient lighting, auto climate control, etc. The pick-up truck is expected to get the same engine that we see on the Innova and the Fortuner while the price starts from INR 25 lakh (ex-showroom).

Mahindra eXUV300

The Mahindra eXUV300, just like its siblings, will be one of the safest cars in the segment. This model may be called the XUV400 and will be a practical choice for those looking for a compact and well built electric car. The car is expected to be launched somewhere in the second half of 2022 while the starting price is expected to hover around INR 13-15 lakh (ex-showroom).

Maruti Baleno Facelift

The 2022 Baleno is going to be a facelift model and will feature major design changes in the exterior from front to tail. Apart from that, the interiors of the car are also expected to see some changes. The car is expected to be launched after mid-2022 and is expected to get costlier by around INR 50,000 as compared to the present model.

Maruti Brezza Next-Gen

The Brezza will be a next-generation model and will feature a completely new design and updated cabin. It will also offer additional features like sunroof, wireless charging, paddle shifters for the automatic transmission variants and a single-pane sunroof, in addition to many other features. With an expected starting price of around INR 9 lakh (ex-showroom), the Brezza might hit the showrooms by mid-2022.

Volkswagen Virtus

The VW Virtus will be the second car in the brands line-up to be based on the MQB A0-IN platform in India and will be replacing the Vento. The Virtus will be powered by the same 1.0 and 1.5 TSI engine that we also see on the Skoda Slavia. More details about the Virtus are yet to be revealed by the German carmaker and we do expect it to launch the car in late-2022. Once launched, it will take on the rivals like Hyundai Verna, Honda City, upcoming Skoda Slavia, etc.
