The electric two-wheeler segment has witnessed a huge boom. Aside from new startups, several established manufacturers are also scheduled to launch electric two-wheelers in India in 2022
With the rise in sales of electric two-wheelers, several manufacturers are jumping on the wagon to make the most out of it. So much that customers now have an equally wide array of EV options, right from low-speed scooters, and city-scooter to high-speed motorcycles. The variety of electric two-wheelers coupled with flexible finance plans makes them enticing enough to lure you into buying one. One of the prime examples of this kind is the Ather 450X.
So, to keep up the competition, and in order to make electric vehicles more mainstream, below here is the list of upcoming electric bikes and scooters that are slated for launch in 2022. All these models will come from hardcore motorcycle manufacturers, who have established their reputation with their petrol engines.
2022 TVS Creon (Expected Launch: June 2022)
Expected Price: Rs. 1.20 lakh
The TVS Creon will be the Indian manufacturers second electric two-wheeler on sale in India, followed by the iQube. It was first showcased at the 2018 Auto Expo and is expected to launch sometime in mid-2022. Not much information is available as of yet, aside from the fact that it comes with a 16 Ps electric motor, and can clock 0-60 kmph in 5.1 seconds. The Creon is expected to have a similar muscular body like the Ntorq, and it will be much more radical looking than the iQube.

2022 Suzuki Burgman Electric (Expected Launch: February 2022)
Expected Price: Rs. 1.10 lakh
The Burgman Electric is almost production-ready and it is expected to launch in the first half of 2022, probably next month. It will look very similar to the Burgman Street, and its battery/electric motor unit is also expected to have the same power output around 4 kW, as its petrol variant, with a range of 90 kms. With the same body design, boot space should increase, and instead of the mono-shock suspension, the Burgman electric will get twin shock absorbers at the rear.
2022 Honda Activa Electric (Expected Launch: November 2022)
Expected Price: Rs. 1.10 lakh
The highest-selling scooter in India, the Honda Activa is slated to get an electric version as well. Not much information is available about the Activa electric, and it is expected to launch sometime by the end of 2022. The new model might have carried over the same body design as the current-gen Activa. The infotainment system might be a full-LCD unit, and boot space might increase as well. The kerb weight will increase due to the heavy battery, which will feature as part of regular changes in the Activa Electric.

2022 Bajaj Chetak (Expected Launch: June 2022)
Expected Price: Rs. 1.50 lakh
Bajaj Auto already has the electric Chetak on sale right now in India, but the 2022 Chetak will be its cheaper alternative. This means a smaller battery with less speed and range. However, it is also rumoured that the spied model above can be the Husqvarna Vektor. The wide tyre hub at the rear, and the flat seat line gives the impression of a Husqvarna, but with no confirmation from the manufacturer as of yet, well stick with the Chetak.
2022 Hero Electric AE-75 (Expected Launch: February 2022)
Expected Price: Rs. 80,000
Hero Electric has a series of electric scooters scheduled for launch this year, and the first model to launch this year is the AE-75 in February 2022. This high-speed electric scooter boasts a range of 80 km and can travel up to speeds of 55 km/h. Not much information is available as of now, about its battery size etc. All of these will be confirmed post-launch in February 2022.
2022 Hero Electric AE-47 Bike (Expected Launch: Match 2022)
Expected Price: Rs. 1.00 lakh
The Hero Electric AE-47 is the only bike in this segment that will launch after the AE-75. This neo-retro designed motorcycle gets a 4 kW electric hub motor that is powered by a removable 3.5 kWh lithium-ion battery pack. It has two ride modes, and it can do 165 km in Eco mode and 85 km in Power mode. Feature-wise, the AE-47 comes with a digital instrument cluster with Bluetooth connectivity, a USB charger, Cruise control, walk and reverse mode, reverse-assist, geo-fencing, and GPS. The AE-47 will directly compete against the Revolt RV 400, another naked electric bike on sale in India and is surely one of the most important upcoming electric bikes in India.
2022 Hero Electric AE-29 (Expected Launch: December 2022)
Expected Price: Rs. 85,000
The Hero Electric AE-29 is a futuristic-looking electric scooter that is powered by a 1 kW motor sourced to a 3.5 kWh lithium-ion battery. Hero Electric claims that The AE-29 can charge fully in 4 hours, which is good for a range of 80 km. It comes packed with features like Bluetooth connectivity, LED headlamps, an anti-theft alarm, and a digital instrument cluster. Suspension duties are handled by telescopic forks at the front and twin gas charged shock absorber at the rear.

2022 Hero Electric AE-3 e-Trike ( Expected Launch: December 2022)
Expected Price: Rs. 1.50 lakh
Among the coolest upcoming electric bikes is this. The AE-3 e-Trike is the only unique scooter in this list that boasts of a tri-wheel design. The sophisticated twin telescopic fork up front and gyroscope-enabled auto-balance park switch also make it one of the most technologically advanced scooter. It draws power from a 250 kW electric motor and a 3 kWh lithium-ion battery pack that is good for 100 km of range on a single charge with a top speed of 80 km/h. Other features on the eTrike include a digital instrument cluster, reverse assist, app connectivity with real-time tracking and a fully digital instrument cluster.
2023 Hero Electric AE-8 (Expected Launch: January 2023)
Expected Price: Rs. 70,000
The Hero Electric AE-8 is a low-speed scooter with a top speed of 25 km/h and a range of 80 km. It gets a full-LED headlight and tail lamp, along with a full-digital instrument cluster. But one of the most eye-catching aspects of the AE-8 is its front apron that boasts a unique honeycomb design that is backlit. But whether the AE-8 will launch in India or not, is yet to be confirmed.
