Nissan X-Trail SUV - What To Expect?

Nissan sells the X-Trail in global markets as a mid-size premium SUV. It offers masculine looks and the latest design language of Nissan along with the capabilities of an SUV. The test mule spotted in Chennai seems like a production-ready unit that has the same design as the global models. The front V-shaped grille and the dual-headlight setup offer a striking design appeal. Moreover, its size also resembles that of a proper big SUV. No doubt about that because Nissan sells the X-Trail with 5-seat and 7-seat options globally.

Underneath the bonnet, the global model is sold with various engine options. It is offered with a 2.5-lt petrol, a 1.5-lt mild-hybrid petrol, & a 1.5-lt e-Power hybrid petrol engine options. In India, Nissan will likely sell it with the mild-hybrid and e-Power engine options. The latter produces 204 bhp of peak power & 330 Nm of peak torque. Additionally, global models get the option of a two-wheel drive and a four-wheel drive as well. Once launched, it'll compete with the Skoda Kodiaq & Volkswagen Tiguan. We expect the pricing of the X-Trail to be around Rs 40 lakh to Rs 45 lakh.

Verdict

The Nissan X-Trail SUV is a very competent and well-established product in the global markets. It has a reliable mechanical set up and the performance of the e-Power engine is also very economical. However, being a CBU, the pricing of it is expected to remain steep.
