Volkswagen India will come up with a slew of launches this year in the Indian market. The brand is currently following the India 2.0 strategy and is working to increase the market share with new cars in the market. Volkswagen officially showcased a number of cars at the 2020 Auto Expo and the brand has announced that they have started accepting the bookings for the all-new T-Roc, which will be launched in the Indian market in the coming weeks.
Volkswagen India's official website has the T-Roc listed on it with "Booking Open" tab on it. While Volkswagen has not mentioned the booking amount on the website, there is a form that the prospective customers can fill to get a call back from the dealership.
The all-new T-Roc crossover will be launched in the Indian market in the coming weeks and it will be launched as a Completely Built Unit (CBU) in the Indian market. Due to the high taxes on CBU vehicles, the T-Roc is expected to get a hefty price tag. The vehicle will be positioned as a niche product but it will take on the likes of Jeep Compass and MG Hector in the Indian market.
The T-Roc will become the most affordable SUV from the brand and will be positioned below Tiguan in the market. It will bridge the gap between the Tiguan and the upcoming Taigun, which will be launched to take on the Hyundai Creta and Kia Seltos in the Indian market.
Volkswagen will offer the car only with a petrol engine due to the BS6 emission compliance requirements. There will be a 1.5-litre turbocharged petrol engine that will get a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission as standard. Volkswagen may not launch the manual version of the car in the market at all.
The T-Roc is a funky looking vehicle and is designed to attract the youngsters. It will carry a base price tag of around Rs 18 lakhs and will get a long list of features too. Volkswagen is yet to announce the launch date of the vehicle but it should arrive once Volkswagen gathers enough bookings and get an indication of the popularity of the vehicle.
