The bookings for the upcoming VW Taigun are now officially open in India but exclusively only for the 'Taigun Squad'. Now, what exactly is this Taigun Squad that has not been specified by the company yet. Mr Ashish Gupta - Director, Volkswagen Passenger Cars India, on Sunday announced that the pre-bookings for the new VW Taigun will commence from August 9, 2021. The exact booking amount for the SUV has not been revealed but the VW dealers are charging somewhere around Rs 25,000 to book it unofficially. The VW Taigun will be a very important product for the company in India. Also, it will be the second product from the VW group under Skoda-Volkswagen's new India 2.0 project after the Skoda Kushaq.

VW Taigun - Engine Specifications
The VW Taigun shares its underpinnings, mechanicals and most of the parts with the Skoda Kushaq. The VW Taigun gets two BS6 compliant turbo petrol engines. The first one is a 1.0-litre TSI that churns out 115 PS of power and 175 Nm of peak torque. The other one is a more powerful 1.5-litre TSI that churns out 150 PS of maximum power and 250 Nm of peak torque. Both the engines come mated to a 6-speed manual transmission and while the 1.0-litre TSI also gets a 6-speed AT, the new 1.5-litre TSI gets a 7-speed DSG too. This new 1.5-litre TSI mill even features cylinder deactivation technology.

VW Taigun - Launch Date, Expected Price and Rivals
The upcoming VW Taigun will be a very feature-loaded SUV and if we talk about its launch date, it is expected to be launched in India by the end of this month or in the first week of September 2021. The all-new VW Taigun is expected to be priced between Rs 10 lakhs - Rs 17 lakhs, Ex-showroom Delhi and it will rival the likes of Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, Skoda Kushaq, etc. So, are you planning to book it for yourself?
