Yezdi has made a comeback in India after years. The iconic brand now sells a small product lineup with some capable engineering on offer. The Yezdi Scrambler, however, turns out to be one of its best-selling bikes. Fitted with scrambler hardware and a powerful engine, it is one of the most demanded products from Yezdi in India. If you're someone who is looking to buy one of these, go through our pros & cons of it below.
Yezdi Scrambler Pros
Eye Candy Design Appeal
For sure one of its biggest pros is its design appeal. The proper scram vibes come from the long travel front telescopic forks. Additionally, it also gets a gaiter fork that makes it look more rugged. Thanks to design elements like the headlight cover, blacked-out engine compartment, short exhaust, and a short tail design. The overall looks of the bike are modern as well as a typical old-school scram mix. Also, the company provides various poppy and loud colour options. The windscreen and the raised stance of riding make up for a big bike feel.
Powerful Engine Performance
Yes, the engine and its performance are addictive to the Yezdi Scrambler. It comes with a 334cc, single-cylinder, liquid-cooled unit. This unit is capable of making a peak power of 28.7 bhp and a peak torque of 28.2 Nm. However, it is its lightweight that makes it fun to ride bike. The kerb weight of just 182 kg makes up for a high power-to-weight ratio and hence good performance figures. Additionally, the presence of a 6-speed gearbox with a slipper-assist clutch helps even more. It gains speed quickly and this bike performs very well in the mid-range as well as the top-end of the power band.
Feature Loaded
Not just the performance and looks help in making a strong case for it; the features list is also decently long. How? Well, the company has fitted it with a fully digital instrument cluster unit. Additionally, it gets multiple riding modes and even 3 types of ABS settings. Also, Bluetooth connectivity is standard for this bike. The front windshield is adjustable as well. The company is also offering a bunch of accessories along with this bike to make it more utility friendly.
Yezdi Scrambler Cons
Weak Low-End Engine Torque
One of the biggest flaws of the new Yezdi is its weak low-end engine performance, Yes, due to weak low-end torque, the Scrambler struggles and knocks a lot. Additionally, this scenario escalates more during steep inclines or with a pillion and luggage onboard. However, the mid-range and the top-range are full of power and grunt. This means that the riders will find themselves using half-clutch action a lot more during the low-end power requirement.
Lack Of Pillion Seat Comfort
The seat is a single-piece unit. Thus, the overall comfort of it is more tuned towards the rider. Additionally, the short tail design makes up for less room for the pillion on the seat. Hence, the pillion seat comfort has been compromised when compared to the rivals like the Royal Enfield Himalayan or the KTM Adventure 250. We wish that this seat was a bit more elongated and more cushioned for extra comfort at the rear.
Limited Service Support
Yes, when the competition is with the rivals like the Royal Enfield, a lot of things are at stake. Despite being doing its best, Yezdi is still a lot far behind in the service center availability department. This means the amount of after-sales service centers is way less compared to the rivals. However, the company is currently expanding and it will take some time to achieve a visible amount of service support pan India.
Verdict
Priced at Rs 2.05 lakh ex-showroom Delhi, the Yezdi Scrambler is definitely one of the most value-for-money bikes in its segment. The availability of features, performing engine, and loads of customization options make up for a strong for itself.
