Mahindra Bolero Pros

The OG Design & Road Presence

Mahindra Bolero

The Bolero comes with an iconic boxy design language that has a commanding road presence. The SUV offers a higher stance, and the tall ride height makes you feel that you are the king of the road. These design elements are not only a part of the design, they also play a big role in terms. of functionality. The boxy design enables more space inside the cabin and you get an ample amount of headroom and legroom. Also, there are large windows that offer decent visibility.

Rugged Bodywork and Performance

Based on the body-on-frame chassis, the Bolero is capable of facing any type of terrain and conditions. Apart from this, its bodywork increases its off-road capabilities and lifespan as well. The SUV has a robust build quality and strong mechanicals that help it manage any type of weather situation and rough roads.

In terms of performance, the Bolero sources its power from a reliable 1.5-litre mHawk diesel engine that generates 76 PS of power and 210 Nm of torque. The powerhouse comes paired with a 5-speed manual transmission.

Spacious Cabin

The Bolero has a spacious interior that offers a higher level of practicality than any other SUV. It is suitable for large families because it offers a comfortable seat design. Also, there is no lack of storage compartments and cup holders for enhanced convenience. Additionally, you can fold the rear seats to access more space at the back which is a valuable feature for long rides. These features make the OG Bolero a multi-purpose car.

Off-road Capabilities and Mechanical Locking Differential

Mahindra Bolero

While the Bolero doesn't offer the most advanced off-road tech which we can't even expect in this price range. However, this SUV gets a mechanical locking differential which helps in crossing rough roads. The Mechanical Locking differential distributes the power to both rear wheels equally and this feature feels of significant utility while driving on slippery and uneven terrains. On the other hand, a high-ground clearance, plush suspension and robust build add value to its off-road characteristics.

Affordable Price and Low Service Cost

The Mahindra Bolero comes with an aggressive starting price tag of Rs. 9.79 lakh and goes up to Rs. 10.91 lakh (ex-showroom) which is quite reasonable pricing for any 7-seater SUV. In this price segment, this SUV is a great value-for-money option for families who are seeking a comfortable experience that fits into their budget.

Mahindra Bolero Cons

Lacks Features

The Mahindra Bolero offers only basic features inside the. cabin. It lacks amenities such as a modern infotainment screen. On the safety front too, it lacks features such as ESC, EBD, TPMS and six airbags. So, if you are the one who needs a feature-loaded cabin, this SUV is not for you.

Performance Not So Impressive

Yes, I have mentioned this point as a pro above, but every coin has two aspects. While the 1.5 litre mHawk offers great fuel efficiency, you'll feel it quite underpowered while driving on the highways with a full load. Apart from this, the acceleration is also not so good.

Bad NVH Levels

The Bolero doesn't come with balanced NVH levels which become noticeable on the high speeds. The Bolero is going to make you feel uncomfortable with the engine vibrations and wind noise on the high revs. On the other hand, the suspension on offer is also not the best one offered in the segment.

Verdict

The Mahindra Bolero remains a practical and rugged SUV with a commanding road presence, spacious cabin, and excellent off-road capabilities at an affordable price. However, it lacks modern features, has unimpressive highway performance, and poor NVH levels, making it less appealing for those seeking a refined driving experience.
