KEY HIGHLIGHTS
- One of Indias most reliable cars is the Bolero.
- It is cheap to maintain and a no-nonsense SUV.
- The Bolero Neo is more expensive but comes with new features.
The Mahindra Bolero is a household name in India, having been introduced in 2000. Over the years, it has earned the reputation of being one of India's most rugged vehicles, capable of travelling the harshest terrains without relying on advanced technology or a powerful engine. This durability is due to its ladder frame chassis, rear-wheel-drive (RWD) setup, and naturally aspirated diesel engine. Years later, Mahindra rebranded one of their cars and introduced the 'Bolero Neo,' a modern take on this legendary vehicle that promises to address gaps in a cost-effective manner.
So, today, I am going to compare these two cars that share the same moniker and determine whether the new one is capable enough to live up to the Bolero badge. Let's get started. Also, make sure to join the 91Wheels WhatsApp Channel to never miss out on automotive updates.

Verdict
The Bolero and Bolero Neo are among the rare Indian automobiles capable of providing a genuine off-roading experience that even some 930 lakh so-called SUVs cant match. This is largely because they use a ladder frame chassis and are built primarily for off-road capabilities, with passenger comfort being a secondary consideration. However, the Bolero Neo, previously known as the TUV300, is significantly better than the oldie here.
It offers more space, a much more powerful engine, and improved suspension that allows passengers to travel comfortably for long hours. People buy these vehicles because they are cheap to maintain, highly reliable, and straightforward.
