Mahindra XUV500 is a very popular SUV in the Indian market. The XUV500 was first launched in the year 2011 and it got a facelift in 2015. It received another facelift in 2018 and that update made it better than ever. The new XUV500 BS6 was launched in April this year but it was launched only with a manual gearbox and the automatic variants of the SUV were discontinued. Now, the UV-maker has re-introduced the automatic transmission with the XUV500 and slashed the prices of the manual variants. Here we have for you all the details about the new 2020 Mahindra XUV500 BS6 Automatic.
The Mahindra XUV500 is powered by a BS6-compliant 2.2-litre mHawk155 diesel engine. The oil-burner also gets the sixth-generation electronically controlled Variable Geometry Turbocharger (eVGT). It churns out 154 PS of maximum power at 3750 RPM and 360 Nm of peak torque between 1750-2800 RPM. The engine comes coupled to a 6-speed manual gearbox and it now also gets a 6-speed torque-converter automatic transmission. This automatic transmission is sourced from Aisin and it gets a creep function and a sequential manual mode too.

Apart from the introduction of the automatic gearbox, no other changes have been made to the SUV. In the BS4 era, the XUV500 also used to get off-road capable all-wheel-drive (AWD) system but now that is discontinued. However, Mahindra will re-introduce the all-wheel-drive system in the XUV500 next year with the new-generation XUV500. The new-gen XUV500 is expected to make its Indian debut in the first half of 2021. Currently, the automatic gearbox is available with all the variants of the XUV500, save for the base model. The price of the automatic variants starts at Rs. 15.65 lakhs, Ex-showroom. The variant-wise prices are mentioned in the table below:

The automatic variants of the XUV500 BS6 are up to 1.35 lakh rupees dearer than the corresponding manual variants. Also, this Indian utility vehicle manufacturer has slashed the prices of the manual variants of the XUV500 BS6. The manual variants of the XUV500 BS6 are now affordable by up to 16,000 rupees depending on the variant compared to their launch price of April 2020.
