The new Nissan Magnite is powered by a BS6-compliant 1.0-litre naturally-aspirated petrol engine. This motor churns out 72 PS of power and 96 Nm of peak torque. It also gets a new 1.0-litre turbocharged petrol engine. This turbo petrol motor churns out 100 PS of power and 160 Nm of peak torque (152 Nm of torque for CVT). Both the mills come mated to a 5-speed manual gearbox but the turbo petrol gets a CVT too. Next, we have the hot-seller Kia Sonet. The Kia Sonet and the Hyundai Venue get the same powerplant. Both these sub-compact SUVs are powered by a BS6-compliant 1.2-litre naturally-aspirated mill and a 1.0-litre turbocharged petrol unit. The 1.2-litre NA petrol engine churns out 83 PS of power and 114 Nm of peak torque. This engine comes mated to a 5-speed manual gearbox only.
These South Korean cousins also get a BS6-compliant 1.0-litre turbo petrol motor that churns out 100 PS of power and 172 Nm of torque. In Venue, the turbo petrol motor comes mated to a 6-speed manual gearbox, a 7-speed DCT (dual-clutch transmission) and a 6-speed iMT (intelligent manual transmission). However, the Sonet's turbo petrol motor comes coupled to a 6-speed iMT and a 7-speed DCT only. Talking about the Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza, it gets a sole BS6-compliant 1.5-litre naturally-aspirated petrol engine. This petrol motor churns out 105 PS of maximum power and 138 Nm of peak torque. The engine comes mated to a 5-speed manual gearbox and a 4-speed torque converter automatic gearbox.
The new 2020 Tata Nexon Facelift is powered by a BS6-compliant 1.2-litre turbocharged petrol engine that churns out 120 PS of power and 170 Nm of peak torque. The engine comes mated to a 6-speed manual gearbox and a 6-speed AMT. The 2020 Mahindra XUV300 also gets a BS6-compliant 1.2-litre turbocharged petrol engine that churns out 110 PS of power and 200 Nm of torque. However, the petrol motor of the XUV300 comes mated to a 6-speed manual gearbox only. Last but not the least, we have the enthusiasts delight - Ford EcoSport. The Ford EcoSport is powered by a BS6-compliant 1.5-litre naturally-aspirated petrol motor that churns out 122 PS of power and 149 Nm of peak torque. The engine comes mated to a 5-speed manual gearbox and a 6-speed torque converter automatic transmission.

Both these compact-SUVs get a 1.5-litre diesel engine that churns out 100 PS of power and 240 Nm of torque and both come mated to a 6-speed manual gearbox. But, the Sonet also gets a 6-speed torque converter automatic transmission and the diesel automatic version of the Sonet develops 115 PS of power and 250 Nm of peak torque, which is around 15 PS and 10 Nm more than its manual variants.
Talking about the compact SUVs from the Indian car manufacturers, so the Tata Nexon gets a BS6-compliant 1.5-litre diesel engine that churns out 110 PS of max. power and 260 Nm of peak torque. The engine comes mated to a 6-speed manual gearbox and a 6-speed AMT. The Mahindra XUV 300 also gets a BS6-compliant 1.5-litre diesel engine that churns out 115 PS of power and a whopping 300 Nm of peak torque. Just like the Nexon, it also comes mated to a 6-speed manual gearbox and a 6-speed AMT. Finally, we have the segment creator, a.k.a. Ford EcoSport. However, its price list has already leaked on the internet and it is expected to be priced between Rs. 5.50 lakhs - Rs. 9.50 lakhs. The petrol variants of the Kia Sonet is priced between Rs. 6.71 lakhs - Rs. 12.89 lakhs while its diesel variants retail between Rs. 8.05 lakhs - Rs. 12.89 lakhs. Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza is priced between Rs. 7.34 lakhs - Rs. 11.50 lakhs. The petrol variants of the Hyundai Venue retail between Rs. 6.75 lakhs - Rs. 11.63 lakhs while its diesel variants are priced between Rs. 8.14 lakhs - Rs. 11.57 lakhs. Talking about the Tata Nexon, its petrol variants are priced between Rs. 6.99 lakhs - Rs. 11.34 lakhs and the diesel variants retail between Rs. 8.45 lakhs - Rs. 12.70 lakhs.
