Skoda Auto India Private Limited has an array of products in the pipeline scheduled to be launched in the coming weeks. The Czech automaker was about to launch its flagship product Superb Facelift in April this year but due to the outbreak of the Novel Coronavirus, the launch has been put on hold. Skoda will now launch the Superb Facelift, Karoq SUV, and the facelifted Rapid BS6 successively in India post the upliftment of the nationwide lockdown. The carmaker has also revealed the details of its upcoming 2020 Skoda Superb Facelift and started accepting bookings for the same.
The 2020 Skoda Superb Facelift was showcased in India for the first time at the 2020 Delhi Auto Expo and it does look sportier and much more premium than before. First of all, talking about the variant break-up, the facelifted Superb will be offered in two trim levels - sporty-looking Sportline and opulence-oriented Laurin & Klement (L&K). The Sportline variant will come in three colour shades: Moon White, Race Blue and Steel Grey, while Laurin & Klement trim will be offered in five colour variants: Lava Blue, Magic Black, Magnetic Brown, Business Grey and Moon White.
Aesthetically, the facelifted Superb gets a new front fascia with a redesigned bumper, new grille with subtle chrome inserts and sleeker-looking LED headlights and taillights. It also gets a new design for the alloys and the interior is now loaded with a virtual cockpit, an updated infotainment system, etc. The Sportline trim of Superb has more sporty characteristics and it gets a blacked-out grille, ORVMs, a contrasting roof, and distinguished design for the alloy wheels. It also gets an all-black interior with red inserts while the Laurin & Klement version will get a dual-tone black and beige finished interior.
Powering the 2020 Skoda Superb will be a BS6-compliant 2.0-litre TSI turbocharged petrol motor that churns out 190 PS of power and 320 Nm of torque, mated to a 7-speed DSG gearbox. Unlike before, the new Superb will neither get a manual transmission nor a diesel engine option. Skoda has started accepting bookings for its premium executive sedan and one can book it on the company's website by paying a token amount of Rs. 50,000.
