Skoda India is going to kick-start the new financial year with a bang. The Czech carmaker has an array of products in the pipeline that shall be launched in India in the coming weeks. A few days back, we reported that the bookings for the all-new 2020 Skoda Superb Facelift have begun in India. And now, a walkaround video of the top of the line Laurin & Klement (L&K) version of the facelifted Superb has surfaced online hinting its imminent launch. Variants and Colours
We will be starting off with the variants and colour details as the looks of the new facelifted Skoda Superb is dependent on its variants. The 2020 Skoda Superb Facelift will be offered in two trim levels sporty-looking Sportline and opulence-oriented Laurin & Klement (L&K). The Sportline variant will come in three colour shades: Moon White, Race Blue and Steel Grey, while Laurin & Klement trim will be offered in five colour variants: Lava Blue, Magic Black, Magnetic Brown, Business Grey and Moon White.
Looks and Design
The new Skoda Superb Facelift was first showcased in India at the 2020 Delhi Auto Expo and it looks sportier and much more premium than the outgoing model. Talking about the cosmetic bits, the facelifted Superb gets a new front fascia with a redesigned bumper, a new grille with subtle chrome inserts and sleeker-looking LED headlights and taillights. Aesthetically, the Sportline trim of Superb has more sporty characteristics and it gets a blacked-out grille, ORVMs, a contrasting roof, and new design for the alloy wheels. It also gets an all-black interior with red inserts while the Laurin & Klement version gets a dual-tone black and beige finished interior.
Engine and Transmission
The 2020 Skoda Superb Facelift will be powered by a BS6-compliant 2.0-litre TSI turbocharged petrol engine that churns out 190 PS of maximum power and 320 Nm of peak torque. The engine comes mated to a 7-speed DSG (Direct Shift Gearbox). The pre-facelifted Superb also got a manual gearbox but unlike before, the new Superb will neither get a manual transmission nor a diesel engine option.
Features
Skoda Superb is the Flagship car from the brand in India and being a flagship model, it is loaded with features up to the brim. It gets a very plush-looking interior loaded with a ton of features like a virtual cockpit driver display, an updated 8.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Android Auto, Apple CarPlay and SmartLink connectivity. It also gets ventilated seats, a three-zone climate control and ambient lighting. The new facelifted Superb also gets best-in-class safety features which include seven airbags, ABS with EBD, reverse parking sensors with camera and many more.
Launch Timeline and Price
Skoda India has officially started accepting bookings for its premium executive sedan and one can book it on the companys website by paying a token amount of Rs. 50,000. Skoda will launch the new Superb Facelift, Karoq SUV, and the facelifted Rapid BS6 successively in India post the upliftment of the nationwide lockdown. It is expected to be priced between Rs. 27 lakhs Rs. 30 lakhs, Ex-showroom. Although the new Superb misses out a diesel engine, it offers so many goodies for the price it asks that it will definitely be a preferred chauffeur-driven car in this price bracket.
