As per reports surfaced online, the American car manufacturer Ford has started development on the next-gen 2021 EcoSport in Brazil. The car will be manufactured alongside the Ford Figo, or the Ka as it is known in Brazil. Both the Ka and the Ecosport will be based on the same compact architecture. The Ka is codenamed B680, whereas it's sedan counterpart is codenamed B680S.
First launched in 2012, the Ecosport opened up the sub-4-meter SUV segment in India, which is currently the busiest segment in the Indian car market, with all manufacturers trying to claim a share in the pie. The car is expected to be launched all over the world in late 2020 or the early parts of 2021.
As per the images we see here, the car is completely new in terms of design. The front facia now sports a new hexagonal grille, with chrome slats connecting the headlights, which as we see are completely new and have sleek LED DRL's.

The 2021 Ford Ecosport gets rid of its boxy shape, and now gets more curved lines. The car does not forget its SUV characteristics and now comes with more body cladding along the wheel arches, a clamshell-style bonnet and bull bar style designed front, and rear bumper. We also get to see a new roof-mounted spoiler, chrome trims around the windows, a shark fin antenna, a faux skid plate at the rear and chrome roof lining
Perhaps the biggest change in terms of design is that the new 2021 Ford Ecosport gets rid of the tail-mounted spare wheel. We don't have images of the interior, but we are expecting the 2021 Ecosport to be feature-packed and more spacious from the inside. Engine options may remain the same for petrol, the 1.5L Dragon engine which can be paired either with a manual or an automatic. We cannot commit now whether the diesel engines are offered in this new 2021 Ecosport or not.
As for now, Ford and Mahindra are working together to form a new Joint Venture company, that will see Mahindra take over Ford India's operations, So, we are not expecting the car to be reaching our shores before 2021
