As the prices of petrol and diesel are soaring high and reaching Rs 100 mark in some states, CNG and electric cars are to the rescue. However, we do not have a lot of options for the CNG cars and electric ones are still expensive and being a developing country, the electric future is still far from being a success. So what should one do if they have a high running but owns a petrol car? Well, aftermarket CNG is an option and today we have the 2021 Hyundai i20 1.2L petrol. Yes, the new i20 with aftermarket CNG. Phew!
This i20 gets a 1.2L, four-cylinder, naturally aspirated petrol motor. It generates 82 bhp at 6000 RPM with a peak torque of 115 Nm at 4200 RPM. This engine is mated to a 5-speed manual transmission and the ARAI for the MT sticks to 20.35 kmpl.
Now, this is the Sportz version of the i20 and gets an aftermarket CNG. We believe it is the 10 kg capacity and the fitment is done in such a way that you do have space for two small duffle bags. Similarly, if there's a puncture then the tyre will be easily removed. This is a ZAVOLI BORA S32 Sequential Kit.

Normally, when petrol cars see CNG conversion then the power decreases as they receive 4 injectors. In the i20, the modifier has fitted 8 injectors to boost the power delivery. In this way, there will be a little lag only when compared with the petrol model. Normally, 10% of the power decreases in CNG models. Also, no wire cut has been made to the i20 at all.
This is the Sportz variant so it comes with a TPMS, rear camera, power-folding ORVMs, rear defogger, turn indicators on ORVM, automatic headlights, LED taillights, digital instrument cluster and a touchscreen infotainment unit with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.
