Jawa Motorcycles is an Iconic name in Indian Motorcycling History. The old classic Jawa's were very popular in our country. Jawa re-entered the Indian market in 2018 with its two products, namely the Jawa Classic and the Jawa Forty-Two. Last year, both these retro bikes received the BS6 treatment and now just a few days ago, the company launched the new updated 2021 Jawa Forty-Two BS6. So, today in this article, we will be sharing with you all the Pros and Cons of the new 2021 Jawa Forty-Two BS6.
2021 Jawa Forty-Two BS6 Pros and Cons:
PROS:
Looks and Colour Options - The new 2021 Jawa Forty-Two is one good-looking motorcycle. The Jawa Forty-Two has a retro appeal with modern touches and all in all, it looks very handsome. Also, the fit and finish of the motorcycle look much better than before. The new 2021 Jawa Forty-Two is available in flashy colour shades. The motorcycle gets three all-new colour shades. They are AllStar Black, Orion Red and Sirius White. A grey-coloured stripe runs across the length of the motorcycle with number 42 badging on the fuel tank which gives it a unique appeal.
Engine Performance and Dual Exhausts - The Jawa Forty-Two was always known for its good performance and the new updated model is even better. It gets a BS6 compliant 293cc, single-cylinder, liquid-cooled, fuel-injected engine. This new mill churns out 27.33 PS of maximum power (+0.82 PS) and 27.05 Nm (-0.03) of peak torque. The engine comes mated to a six-speed manual gearbox. Jawa claims that it features a repositioned lambda sensor which will result in a crisper throttle response. The company also says that the riders would feel a noticeable punch in the mid-range and more throaty exhaust note. The suspension has been retuned for better ground clearance.
Lightweight, Accessible and now gets Alloys - The new 2021 Jawa Forty-Two BS6 weighs just 171 kgs. It has lost around 1 kg of weight, thanks to the removal of the catalytic converter from underneath the bike. Now, it gets two smaller cat-cons that are situated where the exhaust pipes emerge from the engine. The Forty-Two has a seat height of just 765 mm, which is very accessible for even short riders. Moreover, it now gets alloy wheels with tubeless tyres, which is a big plus point.
CONS:
Misses Out on Features - The 2021 Jawa Forty-Two misses out on a lot of features, considering its new-age rivals are fairly loaded with goodies. For starters, it misses out on LED headlamps, LED DRLs, an informative cluster, USB charging ports, Bluetooth connectivity, etc. Also, its instrument cluster rotates anti-clock-wise which is quite unique but also a bit awkward.
Limited Dealerships - Jawa Motorcycles has limited dealerships across the country when we compare the numbers with its direct rival - Royal Enfield. Also, earlier the company was infamous for having long waiting periods but now the situation must have improved.
Rivals Offer Better Value - The price of the new 2021 Jawa Forty-Two BS6 starts at Rs. 1.84 lakhs, Ex-showroom Delhi. At this price point, it is around 10,000 rupees more expensive than its predecessor. The Forty-Two is now available with dual-channel ABS only. Its rivals - Royal Enfield Meteor 350, Honda H'Ness CB 350, etc. are slightly more expensive than it but they offer much better value.
Finally talking about the verdict, should you buy it?
