Mahindra always does extensive testing of their SUVs, from smooth tarmac to snowy hills. We saw the Thar tested in every terrain present in India for a long period of 3 years. The 2021 Mahindra XUV500 has also been on testing extensively on various terrains and a mule has been spotted in Manali hills too. Mahindra will launch the next-gen XUV500 in around mid-2021 in the Indian market. See original video on Tech Travel Eat Here.
We have covered multiple spy shots the 2021 Mahindra XUV500 and even the interiors of the near-production spec model. The model spied in the Manali Hills was the test mule without production-spec headlights and taillights. The exteriors of the new XUV500 will be much sleeker and subline than the current generation. The front profile will get extended LED headlights - similar to the XUV300, whereas the door handles will be flush-fitting. Mahindra will also improve the look and feel of side and rear profile by adding diamond-cut alloy wheels and LED taillights.
The biggest change in the case of XUV500 will be the interiors. To some extent, the new XUV500 will define the level of new-age Mahindra cars and it seems a class apart from the competition. The quality will take a big leap in terms of materials used and aesthetics. Based on spy shots, Mahindra will offer the connected twin-screens - similar to Mercedes-Benz cars - one for the infotainment and one for the driver. In a similar fashion, the infotainment will come with the option of rotary dial controller other than the touch controls.

Coming to the powertrain options, 2021 Mahindra XUV500 will come with the same engines we get with the Thar. A 2.2-litre diesel and 2.0-litre mStallion turbo petrol will power the new XUV500 and higher trims will also come with automatic transmission and 4WD. The 2.0-litre turbo petrol will produce as high as 190hp and 400 Nm of torque, however, legitimate power figures of the diesel engine are not known yet. Going by the specs, the 2021 Mahindra XUV500 will be priced at a premium.
