Mahindra Automotive is working on the new generation of the Scorpio and XUV500. We recently saw the launch of the all-new Thar which was the end result of years of on-road testing. We have spotted the next-gen XUV500 multiple times now but now, the mule has started coming in shape. Some recent spy shots reveal the production-spec LED headlights, taillights and alloy wheels of the 2021 Mahindra XUV500.
The all-new Mahindra XUV500 is expected to be leaps and bounds better than the current version. Our internal sources tell that Mahindra has worked a lot and sorted the ergonomic flaws we saw in the older car. We will have a new and much improved floating infotainment system with all the connectivity features. The plastic quality and fit and finish are said to be a notch above than before. As seen in pictures, the LED taillights are wraparound units and get horizontal treatment, unlike the current generation.

The front of the 2021 Mahindra XUV500 will get the chrome-strutted grille with vertical slats - similar to the pre-facelift model. The LED headlights can be seen merging with the grille and has while LED illumination. The alloy wheels - although camouflaged - have the diamond-cut dual five-spoke design. As speculated, the production-spec XUV500 will come with flush-fitting door handles. The overall design and finesse of the new XUV500 will be much better than the current generation XUV500.

Moving to the engine options, Mahindra XUV500 will get the same set of engines we saw in the new Thar but in a more powerful state of tunes. The 2.2-litre diesel will produce more power and torque than the current generation XUV500 and also offer 6-speed automatic gearbox. The mStallion 2.0-litre petrol engine will churn out 190hp and 380 Nm of peak torque, mated to a 6-speed manual and 6-speed AT. The 2021 Mahindra XUV500 will also come with all-wheel-drive which is not available at this moment. The launch of the new XUV500 is delayed but we expected Mahindra to launch it early next year.
