Mahindra XUV500 is a very popular mid-size SUV in the Indian market. The XUV500 was first launched in the year 2011. Over the years, it has received multiple cosmetic updates and new features have been added. The XUV500 received a facelift in 2015 and in 2018, it got another facelift which made it better than ever. However, the launch of the new-generation XUV500 is due for a really long time. We have seen the test mules of the new-gen XUV500 several times before. Now, the 2021 Mahindra XUV500 has been spied once again and this time in its production-spec avatar revealing new details.
So, the new-generation Mahindra XUV500 and the new-gen Scorpio was about to be launched this year. But, thanks to the on-going coronavirus pandemic, the entire launch process has been delayed. Hitherto, we have seen the test mules of the new XUV500 several times. However, these new spied images give us a clear idea that how the new-gen XUV500 will exactly look like! At the front, one can see that the upcoming new-gen XUV500 will get a completely revised fascia. It will get Mahindra's signature seven-slate grille with round headlamps and long daytime-running LEDs. Moving to the side profile, the new XUV500 seems bigger than before.

The new-gen XUV500 will be longer and wider than its predecessor and also will have a longer wheelbase to create more room inside the cabin. One can also see the design of the new ten-spoke alloy wheels of this SUV. Coming to the rear, though the SUV is completely camouflaged, we can still make out that it will get new bumpers, a new design for the taillamps, an integrated roof-mounted spoiler and a shark-fin antenna. The new-generation XUV500 will be also loaded with features up to the brim. We can see that it will get a flat-bottom steering wheel, a large touchscreen infotainment system loaded with tech, dual-tone shade for the cabin and much more.
Talking about the powertrain options, so the new 2021 Mahindra XUV500 will get new BS6-compliant petrol and diesel engines. It will get a 2.2-litre oil-burner that will churn out around 180 PS of power and 420 Nm of peak torque. It will come mated to a 6-speed manual gearbox and a 6-speed torque-converter automatic transmission. The new-gen XUV500 will also get a 2.0-litre turbocharged petrol engine that will pump out a massive 190 PS of power and 380 Nm of peak torque. It will only come mated to a 6-speed torque-converter automatic transmission. The top-spec variants of the new XUV500 will also get all-wheel-drive (AWD) with a low-range transfer case.

Now, finally talking about the launch timeline and expected price. So, the new 2021 Mahindra XUV500 is expected to be launched in the first quarter of 2021. Currently, the Mahindra XUV500 BS6 retails between Rs. 13.10 lakhs - Rs. 18.88 lakhs, Ex-showroom Delhi. We believe the new-gen XUV500 will be priced between Rs. 14 lakhs - Rs. 20 lakhs, Ex-showroom.
