Ahead of its official launch, spy shots have started pouring in of final test mules. In fact, Mahindra has already released a second teaser video for the car. The latest photos reveal to us its electric sunroof design and more fine details.

Mahindra XU400 Electric Details
Speaking of its design, the overall length of the car is 4.2 mt. Yes, it retains the Tivoli portfolio unlike its ICE cousin i.e. the XUV300. As electric cars in India do not get the benefit of the 4 mt length mark; it uses the original platform. This can possibly mean that the boot space and rear seat space will increase in the EV.
Meanwhile, looking at the design gives the same hint as the XUV300 design. Not to mention, it will look more or less the same. There are going to be only some distinctive changes from its ICE sibling car to make it look apart. For example, the front grille has bezels and mimics the EV tag. Similarly, there will be subtly reworked panels like the front and rear bumper. This is to make the car more aerodynamic as well as more efficient.
However, the latest spy shots also reveal to us the electric sunroof design. It seems that Mahindra has carried forward the sunroof from the XUV300 electric concept. Meanwhile, the chassis used for its construction is not the MEB EV platform shared with VW. Mahindra has tied up with VW for this MEB EV architecture to develop electric cars in the future. A glimpse of it was seen on the debut of 5 electric SUVs by Mahindra on August 15.
As it will compete with strong contenders like the Tata Nexon EV Max and MG ZS EV; it will have features up to the brim. For example, tech like the ADAS, sunroof, HUD, Android Auto, Apple CarPlay, rear AC vents, etc. is suspected to be offered. Currently, the Nexon EV holds more than 85 percent of the 4-wheeler EV market share. This is exactly what Mahindra targets via the XUV400.
Powertrain & Specifications
Meanwhile, we have no official details about its powertrain but the speculations suggest a battery pack of 40-45kWh capacity. Additionally, the reports on the internet also hint that it will have a real-world driving range of up to 300 km per charge. Other specifications will include all 4-disc brakes, 17-inch alloy wheels, LED lighting, etc.
In terms of pricing, it is going to be placed somewhere between the Nexon EV & the MG ZS EV. We anticipate that it will be launched between Rs 15 - 20 lakh price tag. However, nothing can be said until the car is officially launched on September 8. We will be covering the exclusive test drive of it, so until then stay tuned.
