2022 Maruti Baleno is a big success even before its official launch as the premium hatchback has now received 16,000 bookings. The Hyundai i20 and Tata Altroz rival will be made available in four variants - Sigma, Delta, Zeta and Alpha. It gets some first in segment features like a head-up display (HUD) and a 360-degree camera.
You can book the new Baleno through any authorised Nexa dealerships or via the website at just Rs 11,000. This hatchback was launched back in 2015 and since then, the carmaker has achieved its 1 million sales mark which is the highest for any car in India. An average of 14,000 units of the Baleno are being sold currently but looks like with the new model, this number will only rise.
Mechanically, the new Baleno will be powered with a 1.2-litre, four-cylinder, DualJet petrol motor. This engine generates as much as 89 bhp of power on tap with a maximum torque of 113 Nm. Unlike the older version that got a mild-hybrid set-up, this one does not come with it.

A 5-speed manual transmission as standard and an optional AMT will be observed in the new Baleno. The carmaker has ditched the CVT for an AMT to cut down the cost of owning an automatic. The ARAI certified mileage of the Baleno is 22.34 kmpl for the manual and 22.94 kmpl for the AMT.
On the outside, the new Baleno gets a completely new design with all new LED headlights, restyled bumper and grille design, flatter hood. The car now looks wider to the naked eyes. On the sides, the silhouette of the car remains as before but we do get new alloy wheels that look better than the pre-lift version. The rear now gets L-styled LED tail lamps that connect with the redesigned tailgate. Like the front, the rear bumper too is changed.
Feature-wise, 2022 Baleno gets a larger 9.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, head-up display, cruise control, 360-degree camera, power-folding ORVMs, auto-dimming IRVM, surround sense by ARKAMYS, rake and reach adjustable steering wheel with multi-function, rear AC vents, fast charging ports and more.

Safety features on the new Baleno include six airbags, ABS with EBD, rear parking sensors, a high-speed alert system, speed-sensing door lock, front seat belt reminder and more. The AMT version of the Baleno also gets electronic stability control along with hill hold assist.
