KEY HIGHLIGHTS
- Jeep Compass Trailhawk delisted from website
- Offered only in a 2.0-liter diesel unit
- More rugged and off-road-centric edition when compared to the regular one
Big American manufacturer Jeep is currently overhauling its Jeep Compass line-up here in India. In the latest development, the Jeep Compass Trailhawk Edition has been silently delisted from the website. However, petrol variants are also no longer on sale currently. But it is believed to be a temporary halt in production. This situation is not clear as well.
Let's look at this development in detail. Although no reason is stated yet, most probably it is due to the poor sales number of this version. Jeep launched the Trailhawk in February 2022 with a price tag of Rs. 30.72 lahks (ex-showroom).
Jeep Compass Trailhawk Discontinued
While the Jeep Compass came with both a petrol and diesel engine, the Trailhawk was solely offered with the diesel powertrain. This is no longer on sale. While Jeep axed the petrol Compass for now, and no information is available of its return, the diesel-powered Trailhawk departs as well. The 2.0L turbo-diesel engine puts out 170PS of power and 350Nm of torque. It comes mated to a 9-speed torque converter automatic transmission.
Compared to the regular Compass, this version was more rugged and off-road-centric with a dedicated rock mode. Talking about the additions, it gets a 1-inch suspension lift kit, better water-wading capability, and 205 mm of ground clearance.
Also, unlike the regular variant that got normal 18-inch tires, this one offered all-terrain 17-inch wheels. The approach and departure angles stood at 30 degrees and 34 degrees respectively.
Compass Now Only In Diesel
The 2.0L turbo-diesel engine puts out 170PS of power and 350Nm of torque. It is mated to both a 6-speed Manual and a 9-speed torque converter unit. The diesel automatic also gets an option for the 4X4 system.
VERDICT- While the rejig of variants and engine options is a normal ritual, Compass is a little spread all over. Where the petrol units are no longer on sale, the diesel trims are getting axed simultaneously. Although, it is probably due to low sales numbers. However, there is no clarity if the petrol unit is coming back or not. Till then, the Compass remains a diesel-only affair.
