This is the age of compact SUVs and Kia is having its moment with the Seltos and Sonet. Weighing in on this trend, a new edition of Kia Sonet, named the Aurochs Edition has been launched at Rs. 11.85 lakhs by Hyundai's sister brand. Based on the HTX variant of Sonet, this offers some things over the regular variants. But, most of them are cosmetic.
Let's get into the highlights of this new offering by Kia.
Kia Sonet- Aurochs Edition
The major difference that this edition carries is the cosmetic overhaul. While the design remains the same, it plays with little, very noticeable inserts on the front, side, and rear profile. This time it's a play in Tangerine. It gets Tangerine accents on the front grille, front and rear skid plates, door garnish, as well as side skid plates. The center of the wheel cap and door garnish gets the orangish treatment to carry on the edition feels. Although most of it, but not all of it, is just the cosmetic difference.

All in all, it is a feature-packed variant with tech and comfort.
Powertrain
This one comes with 2 powertrain options. A 1.0-liter turbo petrol unit that produces 120 PS of max power and 172 Nm of peak torque. It comes mated to a 6-speed iMT or a 7-speed DCT. The other one is a 1.5-liter diesel engine that churns out 116 PS / 250 Nm and is mated to either 6iMT or 6AT. It competes directly with the likes of Tata Nexon, Mahindra XUV300, and Hyundai Venue.
VERDICT- The new edition aims to keep the excitement alive and kicking for the Sonet lineup. Facing stiff competition in the segment, every member needs to up their game. Before this, the Anniversary edition made its way, which brought cosmetic tweaks with it. This will attract a more diverse audience to the showrooms, and eyes when it goes on the road as well.
