Mahindra Thar 5-Door Test Run In Dehradun
The Mahindra Thar 5-door test mule exhibits a noticeable increase in size, featuring a larger footprint compared to the current 3-door version. The front design showcases a new six-slat grille, accompanied by updated LED projector headlamps and fog lights assembly, indicating a departure from the design of the existing model. At the rear, the test mule displays refreshed tail lamp graphics, hinting at a redesigned approach. It is anticipated that these taillamps will combine bulb-type illumination with LED elements, possibly used for the turn indicators, enhancing the overall rear lighting aesthetics of the vehicle.

New Additions On The Inside!
The upcoming Mahindra Thar 5 Door is expected to introduce several interior enhancements, as seen in previous spy shots. Notable updates include a new steering wheel sourced from the XUV700 and a larger touchscreen infotainment system. Furthermore, the SUV is also anticipated to offer a range of creature comforts, such as front and rear armrests, an updated instrument cluster, rear AC vents, automatic climate control, and a reverse parking camera. Moreover, there are expectations of new features like a wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay-enabled infotainment system, an electric single-pane sunroof (previously spotted in spy shots), and other modern conveniences.
Pulling The Beast
The upcoming Mahindra Thar 5 Door is likely to maintain the existing powertrain options found in the 3-Door version. This includes a 2.2-liter diesel engine with a power output of 130 bhp and 300 Nm of torque, along with a 2.0-liter petrol engine that produces 150 bhp and a torque range of 300-320 Nm. Both engines are expected to be paired with a 6-speed manual transmission or a 6-speed automatic transmission.
