1. Fast Charging: Juice-up Quickly
The 2024 MG Comet electric vehicle lineup now features a 7.4 kW AC fast-charging option, significantly reducing the charging time to approximately 2.5 hours. Without this option, it would take five hours to charge from 10% to 80%, and approximately seven hours for a full 0% to 100% charge using the 3.3 kW AC home charger. Its important to note that the Comet does not support DC fast-charging
2. MG Comet EV: New Trim Names
Before, the Comet EV was offered in three versions, but it has now expanded to include two new fast charging (FC) options. The naming convention has shifted from Pace, Play, and Plush to Executive, Excite, and Exclusive, bringing its terminology in line with other models in the MG lineup. This move keeps the harmony across the brand's portfolio in terms of variant nomenclature.
3. Price List: Tweaks, But Selective
Despite the alterations in variants, the ex-showroom prices remain consistent, as depicted in the table below. The only adjustment is observed in the Exclusive model, now priced at Rs. 8.78 lakh, compared to its previous price of Rs. 8.58 lakh. The FC variants are equipped with fast charging capabilities and can be selected for an additional cost of Rs. 35,800.
Variant | Price (Rs) |
---|---|
Executive | 6,98,800 |
Excite | 7,88,000 |
Excite FC | 8,23,800 |
Exclusive | 8,78,000 |
Exclusive FC | 9,13,800 |

Battery And Range
The MG Comet EV operates on a single PMS motor and features a 17.3kWh battery. It offers a peak power output of 41bhp and a maximum torque of 110Nm, transferring power to the rear wheels via an automatic gearbox. Despite the claimed electric range of 230km on a single charge, our road test recorded a delivery of 191km.
Verdict
The MG Comet EV range has been granted a much needed update in the form of a fast charging option. While the trim naming has been streamlined, the other aspects continue as they were before. If you were planning to buy this EV, you have a more practical option to chose from, although with a slight premium.
