The recently leaked images of the 2024 Renault Duster reveal a noteworthy evolution in its design, preserving the iconic traits of its predecessors and drawing inspiration from the Bigster Concept. Widely recognized for pioneering the compact SUV segment, the Renault Duster holds a special place among SUV enthusiasts in India. Renowned for its robust suspension and all-wheel-drive capabilities, the Duster has established itself as one of the most capable compact SUVs of its time.
The Y-shaped LED Daytime Running Lamps, connecting with the chrome elements on the slim grille, create a distinctive front fascia. Vertical air vents in the bumper flank circular fog light units, and a large lower grille area take on the form of a flattened bull-bar. Retaining its SUV appeal, the Duster features squared-off wheel arches, roof rails, and a spoiler inspired by the Bigster Concept. A design nod to its predecessor includes the tapering rear quarter glass.
The side profile reveals a blacked-out vertical 'shadow line' below the mirrors, new alloy wheels (expected on top variants), and a unique kink in the cladding below the rear doors. The rear is marked by sharp, V-shaped tail lights, and while the previous Duster's prominent rear haunches have been toned down, the overall design maintains a balance between contemporary elements and the SUV's iconic legacy.
Engine And Specs
The upcoming Duster is set to offer three engine options globally. These include an entry-level 120hp, 1.0-litre turbo-petrol engine, a 140hp, 1.2-litre petrol hybrid, and a powerful 170hp, 1.3-litre turbo-petrol engine that is flex-fuel compliant in higher trims. The 170hp variant is poised to become the most powerful Duster in production.
For the Indian market, Renault is considering strong hybrid and plug-in hybrid versions of the new Duster, aiming to provide the SUV with efficiency comparable to a diesel engine, as the diesel powertrain will not be offered
What About The Indian Launch?
In India, the new Duster is scheduled to arrive by 2025, competing directly with midsize SUVs like the Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, Volkswagen Taigun, and the Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara in this rapidly growing segment. While it will face some long-standing giants of the segment, its iconic legacy will contribute to its quick adoption in the Indian market.
