Tata Motors has pulled the wraps off its initial model for the year 2024 the Punch EV, marking the brand's fourth all-electric vehicle and the second electric SUV in its lineup. Interested customers can now place bookings for the Punch EV through Tata's dedicated EV-only outlets, select standard showrooms, or the company's online portal by depositing Rs. 21,000.

Tata Punch EV Exteriors: Reminiscent Of Nexon EV
The Punch EV's frontal aesthetics, as evident in the revealed image, seem to draw cues from the recently launched Nexon EV. Highlighting a continuous LED light bar that spans the bonnet, cleverly concealing the charging flap beneath the iconic Tata logo, the design exudes a seamless and modern look.

Notable features include split LED headlamps integrated into the front bumper, a vertically slatted lower grille, and a silver faux skid plate, all contributing to its distinctive appearance. Furthermore, the Punch EV is set to sport a sleek blacked-out roof, ORVMs, and alloy wheels, adding a contemporary touch to its overall visual appeal.
Turning to the rear, the Punch EV presents a distinctive Y-shaped brake light arrangement, complemented by a roof-mounted spoiler and a dual-tone bumper design. Notably, the EV is equipped with a fresh set of 16-inch alloys, featuring disc brakes on all four wheels, a departure from the internal combustion engine (ICE) Punch, which typically incorporates a drum setup at the rear. A noteworthy addition to the Punch EV is the introduction of a frunk, marking a notable feature as the first Tata Electric Vehicle (EV) to include a front trunk space.
Interior & Features: A 'Punch' Above Its Weight
Although any official information is yet to be revealed about the insides of this new EV, we have a fair idea from past spy shot encounters.
The Punch EV's interior boasts a refined design with a layered dashboard, highlighted by a prominent 10.25-inch infotainment screen and a matching digital instrument cluster. While the higher variants feature an illuminated two-spoke steering wheel and a jeweled rotary drive selector while lower trims offer a 7.0-inch infotainment screen.
The top-spec Punch EV will feature premium amenities such as a 360-degree camera, leatherette seats, electronic parking brake, connected car tech, wireless charger, ventilated front seats, and the Arcade.ev app suite. Safety is bolstered with six airbags, ABS, ESC, blind view monitor, three-point seat belts, ISOFIX mounts, and an SOS function. Optional features include a sunroof, making the Punch EV a standout in its segment.
Powertrain, Battery, And Range
Although Tata has introduced the all-new acti.ev architecture underlying the Punch EV, precise technical specifications for the vehicle have not been disclosed. What is known is that there are two variants available Standard and Long Range. As previously reported, these variants are likely to feature 25kWh and 35kWh battery packs, respectively.
Furthermore, it will be underpinned by Tata's latest second-gen pure EV architecture, which supports configurations to provide range in the 300- 600 km on a single charge. Expect the Punch EV to offer a range of around 400 kms.
Tata Punch EV: Launch & Price
The Tata Punch EV is anticipated to hit the market in January 2024 with an expected starting price of Rs 12 lakh (ex-showroom). Positioned as a direct rival to the Citroen eC3, it also offers a premium alternative to the MG Comet EV and Tata Tiago EV within the electric vehicle segment.

Boasting a harmonious blend of advanced features, contemporary design, and an expected competitive price point, the Punch EV is set to capture the attention of electric vehicle enthusiasts, signaling a new era in sustainable and stylish driving.
