Renault Duster SUV: Planned For India?
While there is no official confirmation regarding the comeback of Duster, the recently shared images hint towards it. Shared online globally, the two new SUVs, one for Renault and one for Nissan could be the next-gen Duster. However, select global markets already have the Duster on sale but these concept SUVs will shape up the upcoming gen of the Duster.
As far as the Indian market concern is, the rumours online indicate that the new Duster can come back by the end of 2025. Simultaneously, the Nissan SUV based on a similar platform will also be introduced. We expect both of these SUVs to be based on a similar CMF-B localised platform.
As visible in the teaser image, the design of the Renault SUV is different from the current Duster. It gets L-shaped LED DRLs and a redesigned front fascia along with a muscular-looking bumper. The Nissan SUV is more subtle in front design and gets straight LED DRLs and twin-slat straight lines in the front grille.
New Duster To Get Hybrid and 4X4 Options?
Although there is no info about the powertrains of the upcoming SUV by Nissan, it can very well share its engine options with the current model. The current Duster gets a 1.6-litre petrol-hybrid and a 1.2-litre turbo-petrol engine option. The diesel powertrain has been discontinued globally and will not come to India as well. In some select markets globally, the Duster's Dacia counterpart is offered with a 4X4 drivetrain option as well.
The Indian model was also offered with this configuration when the Duster was on sale. We expect that Renault can possibly bring back the 4X4 in its new-gen Duster when it comes to India by the end of 2025. Once launched, it'll rival the likes of the Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, Maruti Grand Vitara, and Toyota Urban Cruiser Hyryder. The pricing can range between Rs 13 lakh to Rs 20 lakh.
Renault Bigster SUV: 7-Seater Also Planned
Renault and Nissan have also planned an extended configuration for the upcoming Duster SUV. This platform will house a 7-seating layout. While the engine options and the chassis will remain similar, the subtle design changes and a premium cabin will differentiate these from their 5-seat version. Renault can possibly name its 7-seater Duster as 'Bigster'. This upcoming model was recently spotted testing on the foreign turf. This model will rival the Mahindra XUV700, Tata Safari, and the MG Hector Plus.

Verdict
New-gen Duster will become a game changer for Renault in India. The utter popularity of the SUV market and lack of hardcore SUVs like the Duster itself, has a good scope for the new model to grow and establish itself. This can only become possible if Renault keeps its pricing competitive. Tell us in the comments what you think of the new-gen Duster.
