Maruti Suzuki just launched the new-age Baleno at a price of Rs 6.35 lakh, ex-showroom, Delhi. This premium hatchback packs in loads of features and competes with Hyundai i20 as well as Tata Altroz. In this article, we will share 5 areas that make the 2022 Maruti Baleno facelift better than the Tata Altroz. Let's have a look!
Features
Maruti Baleno is offered with segment-first features like head-up display, 360-view camera and more. The former allows the drivers to drive the car without having to take their eyes off the road by conveniently displaying information like the speed, temperature, time and more. As for the 360-view camera, the new drivers will find this feature quite handy as it is helpful in parking the car in tight spaces.
It also gets a larger 9.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Amazon Alexa support, ARKAMYS surround sound system and more. On the safety front, 2022 Baleno is offered with six airbags, hill hold assist and more such features that are missing in the Tata Altroz.
Fuel Economy
Maruti Baleno offers the best in class fuel economy of 22.34 kmpl for manual transmission and 22.94 kmpl for the AMT. On the other hand, Tata Altroz returns an ARAI certified economy of 19.05 kmpl for the 1.2L non-turbo petrol and 18.11 kmpl for the 1.2L turbo petrol.
Availability of an automatic variant
Maruti Baleno is now offered with an AMT unit whereas Tata Altroz is only available with a stick shift transmission. The AMT is priced from Rs 7.69 lakh to Rs 9.49 lakh, ex-showroom, Delhi.
Subscription
Maruti also offers a subscription plan on the Baleno at just Rs 13,999 that customers can avail of on a monthly basis. Mostly, subscription plans include insurance as well as periodic maintenance for a short duration of time. Hyundai does not offer any subscription plan on the i20.
Engine and Performance
Maruti Baleno is powered by a 1.2-litre, four-cylinder, naturally aspirated petrol motor whereas Altroz gets a 1.2L NA, three-cylinder motor. In terms of refinement and performance, Baleno has an edge over the Altroz. We've compared the naturally aspirated engines here.
