Tata Nexon

One of the most popular rather the safest compact SUVs is Tata Nexon. The popularity of the product is such that every new buyer who's looking for a compact SUVs gets inclined towards the Nexon. It is also one of the most affordable compact SUVs you can buy well under Rs 10 lakh with decent features on board. It provides an AMT unit for both petrol and diesel. The petrol uses a 1.2L unit which makes 118 bhp with 170 Nm of torque while the diesel gets a 1.5L unit. This one makes 108 bhp with 260 Nm of peak torque and it is the oil burner which is more fuel-efficient and fun to drive.

Hyundai Venue
7-speed DCT and an iMT for 1.0L Turbo Petrol

It is the most affordable choice when you are considering an automatic compact SUV under Rs 10 lakh. What's interesting is that the buyers can choose from two types of automatics, a DCT and an iMT. The former gets a 7-speed auto gearbox while the latter works like an automatic but without a clutch. This new iMT technology offers the joy of giving the H-gear shift while missing out on the clutch which helps the ease of driving when you are stuck in traffic. The 1.0L turbo petrol makes 118 bhp with a peak torque of 172 Nm.
Maruti Brezza

Maruti always edges out on the old school design, practical usage and the most important, kitna deti hain factor. Well, it's true for Brezza petrol also. While Maruti introduced Brezza in diesel first, 2020 saw a change with the discontinuation of diesel for a new 1.5L petrol. This engine makes 103 bhp with 138 Nm of torque and is super reliable and fuel-efficient. What makes it more fuel-efficient is the availability of an SHVS system which is Maruti's own mild hybrid system. This will be seen on the upcoming S-Cross also whose bookings have started.

Mahindra XUV300
AMT Gearbox for Diesel engine

One of the most expensive diesel automatics in the segment right now, Mahindra XUV300 is also one of the safest SUVs. Yes, Tata Nexon bags the second position in terms of safety. Mahindra provides automatic transmission only with the diesel engine of the XUV300 and needless to say, the SUV drives like a rocket. The 1.5L diesel makes as much as 115 bhp with 300 Nm of peak torque.
Kia Sonet
Kia Motors popularity is growing every single day with the marvellous products. Next in line is the upcoming Sonet which shares its platform with the Hyundai Venue. We are sure that the automatic version of Kia Sonet will be well priced under Rs 10 lakh and it will offer the same 7-speed DCT and iMT gearbox like the Venue. What remains to be seen if the prices of the Sonet will be higher or lower than the Venue.
Nissan Magnite
The Magnite made its global premiere on July 16 and the upcoming compact SUV concept design really stood out from the SUVs which we have in India currently. The fresh approach to the compact SUV segment was quite appreciated by the audience. Once launched, it will come with a 1.0L turbocharged petrol unit only which will be mated to a 5-speed manual and a CVT gearbox.
