BYD Seal Electric Car - Details
As visible via the official website of the Seal EV, it will be a premium offering. The Seal EV is already on sale globally. BYD Auto claims to have designed it on its Ocean X design pattern and hence the name reflects that. According to BYD, this design pattern is inspired by ocean aesthetics. Meanwhile, it is based on the e-platform 3.0 architecture that supports the patented Blade battery setup from BYD. Additionally, BYD Auto has used the first-ever 8-in-1 high-efficiency powertrain. This is also a world-first technology.
The sleek design has helped BYD to control the aerodynamic coefficient to only 0.219 Cd. Hence, the efficiency is amazing as the bigger battery version can offer up to 700 km of driving range on a single charge. However, we can not be sure whether the company will launch the bigger battery in India or not. Meanwhile, the Seal is also the first EV by BYD to offer CTB (cell-to-body) technology.
In the global markets, BYD offers Seal with two battery pack options. These include a 61.4kWh battery pack that offers a 550km of driving range. A second is an 82.5kWh option that is claimed to give it a 700 km of range on a single charge. Additionally, the bigger battery pack makes a peak power of 530bhp & 730 Nm of peak torque. Also, it can sprint up to 0-100 kmph in just 3.8 seconds.
Verdict
As the Indian website of Seal EV is now live, we can expect its launch anytime in the coming weeks. However, it will be a premium offering as expected and hence it will compete with KIA EV6 & Volvo XC40 Recharge. Therefore, its expected price tag is Rs 55-60 lakhs in India.
