BYD Sealion 7: Details!
The Sealion 7's design is based on the Ocean Series Design Language, featuring more aggressive bumpers on both ends, but an overall smooth, clean profile. The coupe SUV design stands out and and with the roofline tapering towards the rear, it gives the car a blend of muscular and an overall stylish stance. The headlights and the tail lights mimic the ones on the Seal sedan, and it even gets the same connected tail lights treatment.
There are two variants available on the Sealion 7: Premium and Performance. The former is a rear-wheel drive variant, producing 3008bhp and 380Nm of torque, with a claimed 0-100kmph time of 6.7 seconds. The Performance variant is an all-wheel drive variant, with 522bhp and 690Nm of torque, and a claimed 0-100kmph time of 4.5 seconds.
Both variants share the same 82.56kWh battery pack, but while the Premium variant covers a claimed 567km on a single charge, the Performance variant does a marginally lesser 542km on the same. Charging times remain unspecified for now.
The interiors of the Sealion 7 also receive some differentiation from the Seal, featuring a 15.6-inch infotainment touch screen, a 10.25-inch instrument cluster, power adjustable seats, a 12-speaker sound system, keyless entry/exit, panoramic glass roof, a 360-degree camera, and an ADAS suite among other things.
BYD has introduced an interesting new scheme through which you can book the Sealion 7, which requires you to pay Rs 70,000, and another Rs 70,000 will be paid by the carmaker itself.
Verdict
The Sealion 7 is going to be among the few electric coupe SUVs out there, and its pricing will be interesting, to say the least. It will go up against the Volvo C40 Recharge, the Kia EV6 and also the Ioniq 5.
