Toyota Rumion: Features
It boasts a 7-seat arrangement, highlighted by a 7-inch touchscreen that provides wireless connectivity for Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. Enhancing the auditory experience is an Arkamys sound system, while automatic climate control contributes to passenger comfort. In terms of safety, the MPV is equipped with six airbags, ABS with EBD, an electronic stability program, and seat belt reminders for all seating positions.
Engine Specs: No Diesel Option, But...
Under the hood, the Rumion features the identical 103hp, 137Nm, 1.5-litre petrol engine found in the Ertiga. It comes mated to either a 5-speed manual or a 6-speed automatic transmission. Additionally, it offers a factory-fitted CNG kit, delivering 88hp and 121.5Nm in CNG mode and 101hp and 136Nm in petrol mode. Toyota asserts that the Rumion petrol achieves a fuel efficiency of up to 20.51kpl. Meanwhile, the CNG version boasts a mileage of 26.11km/kg.
While the oil burner takes the hit, like in Ertiga, the CNG powertrain makes up for it.
Price And Rivals
The ex-showroom price of the Rumion starts at Rs.10.29 lakhs and goes up to Rs. 13.68 lakhs. The variant-wise breakup is as follows.
Variant | Prices |
S MT (Petrol) | Rs. 10.29 lakh |
S AT (Petrol) | Rs. 11.89 lakh |
G MT (Petrol) | Rs. 11.45 lakh |
V MT (Petrol) | Rs. 12.18 lakh |
V AT (Petrol) | Rs. 13.68 lakh |
S MT (CNG) | Rs. 11.24 lakh |
Meanwhile, Toyota Rumion competes with contenders like the Maruti Suzuki Ertiga (priced between Rs 8.64 lakh and Rs 13.08 lakh), the Maruti Suzuki XL6, and the Kia Carens.
Verdict
While the Toyota Rumion is a rebadged Maruti Ertiga, it still retails at a good uptick over the Ertiga for the exact same variant. This gets the founding car, a little edge and avoids direct clash between the two. While some may prefer going for the more affordable option, others may relate more with the brand specifically. However, it makes no difference as to which way you go, the prduct itself has a pretty solid position in the market.
